This show is complete. Quite a few requests got in. Lots of good stuff in this new show.

I haven't heard from him telling me to add phone requests to the script yet. There's a very good chance now that your voice would be immortalized in the show if you call the 1 800 number. I can't do it. It would sound silly to request stuff from myself.

I guess that palindromes are forbidden then......

Tim P. Ryan:

Here is a show idea--Link Letter. A request show where the last letter of a song is the first letter of the next song. One requestor at a time. You must wait for x others to go before you can name another song. Must be a letter, no parens, question marks, other punchuation or numbers. No immediate circleing back, no starts with N, ends with N, nor last song starts with T, ends with N, next song cannot start with N, end with T.
Could be fun.

That's an interesting idea. It'd take a while, I think. There were 42 songs in show 150. As 151 nears completion, it currently has 34 - there are fewer since there's a really long Firesign Theater bit in it...no, not that one.

I could go for it, but I have to wonder if it would be as good a show as it would be a game. I picture certain songs meeting with my or Wayne's disapproval. Hell, some of the songs I choose meet with his disapproval. It's always the language...

Such disapproval might piss some people off and I don't think any of us want that. Maybe there could be a way to work it out.

While I'm thinking about it (read: before I forget again), here are some upcoming themes from my main list before they all get swiped from here: www.madmusic.com/thread.aspx?TopicID=5213 This'll teach me to keep my smartass ideas to myself. Well...one of them was Wayne's. Hmm..I used one already.

MMS-154 is likely to be another tribute show. But to who?...or what?

MMS-153 - Nerdgasm
(intelligent - but not necessarily nerdy - songs)

MMS-15X - Hygiene Is Not A Dirty Word (bathtime tunes)

MMS-15X - The Future/Armageddon

MMS-16X - Hand Me The Shovel
(political/controversial songs)

MMS-16X - Hippies vs. Squares (3 segments each of 'pro-hippie' & 'anti-hippie' tunes)

Here are the six segment themes for the new show in this order (going for minimalism here):

Greed

Shopping
(of course)

Stuff - (as in 'too much')

Fat - (your kids get this from watching you, remember?)

Depression Redux- (they dare not call it that on TV or it would make the rich asshole boomers that caused it "feel bad about themselves". ...Bastards)

Protest - (it's a bit cold now, so they've stopped. Pussies. January's a great time to clout a CEO with a pie...or a brick.)

And each concept is meant to lead to the next. This show idea continues to evolve. That's usually a good thing.
Maybe you can think of more songs that would fit these segments.

For decades, comedy musicians knew mindless consumerism and the obsession with the acquisition of 'stuff' when they saw it and wrote songs about it.

Request songs about maniacal buying, gorging, hoarding (are there even songs about hoarding?) and America's insistence on having the most toys. Even if they're Chinese and full of lead paint.
