You're welcome. This show, like the caveman show, was years in the making, so some of the requests went back that far as well.

Thanks for playing my request (for "Venus Bound" by Unknown Hinson) on this show! When I heard the Captain give me credit for requesting it, I thought "Huh?!?". Then when I researched here a bit, I found that I had requested it in September of '08. I guess that I am getting old ... I didn't remember it! 8^)

In these dark times, you have to wait forever for everything. And there's even an mp3 out of place in it. My fault, not his. Uploaded the wrong thing when I was fighting the damn thing to try and get it uploaded. Nothing's easy. Can't upload the correct one. It won't take. The rest of the show's ok and fairly clever. Can't be bad.

This is the next MMS to be made. From what I hear, Wayne is having PC problems just as I am, so it couldn't be run last Sunday. He's trying to save his machine while I have replacement in mind (graphics card is crap).
Hope this show about the future won't be aired too much further in the future.

This show is complete. It was only 3½ years in the making, after all. Requests from this thread, the older one it links to and other sources were used. Hopefully, it'll be a decent show. I think the playlist & script turned out well.

(BZZT!) START AGAIN!.... If you heard the podcast tonight, he said no shows next week. I knew there'd be times in March like that since he told me a while ago. Just gives me more time to get ahead on the shows. Not too far ahead. In case it all stops until Xmas again.

The problem with tribute shows is that you can't (or shouldn't) have one for dementia artists right after the death of a non-dementia artist. It puts the listener off a bit.
Or at least that's the excuse I'm using to put it off again.
MMS-155 will finally be this future-related show. Hip hip hooray! Nice nice! Yah boo! Phillips is a German and he have my pen!..(BZZT!) START AGAIN!

At some point after this thread originally expired and the shows stopped last year, Wayne suggested "The Future/Armaggeddon" as a topic, so I'm sure this show will get made eventually. I expect it to be one of the last of the 150s, but don't know in what order the show ideas I have will be made yet.

Just reactivating this thread from a year ago and leaving it here. This week's show (MMS-154) was completed last month, but I'm thinking about this month and would like to gain an extra week of completed shows. An admirable ambition, to be sure. Maybe, possibly...

I look forward to hearing The Captain back on the show. A good song about the future is:
Grandpa Funk - Robin Williams
on his "Reality, What A Concept" album from the 70's. I remember that after this album came out, Dr. Demento regularly played several different tracks on his show, often in the "Funny Five."

There were 2 songs on that spreadsheet when I thought about the future too much and ran screaming from the room - (
ran
...yeah, right), thus giving up on the concept for a while.
Those songs were the JC song you mention and "In 1992 - Vernon Dalhart" that Tim asked for. With what the plan is now, this show may end up being MMS-149. As soon as Wayne starts making the shows again. It's not like I can make them. He told me that his schedule would be bad for quite a while, so this wasn't unexpected. He has the scripts for the next show and podcast when he wants to start things up again.

Maybe, if there's not enough future songs, you can do Past, Present & Future.

This is a workable notion. I have 9 ideas for the podcast but not so many for the main show. I'll add this to the list...as soon as I find the damn thing. There it is.. oh, that's not good. I can come up with 10 ideas for the podcast but crap for the main show? I'd better come up with more stuff for it.

Prosperity Is Just Around The Corner
By: Carson Robison (1932 view of First Great Depression)
other Carson Robinson songs might apply, but audio would have to be tracked down, like
A Hundred Years From Now
By: Carson Robison
In 1992
By: Vernon Dalhart
(might have been recorded in 1929, maybe 1932)

And while you're at it, come up with a less depressing show title. One that doesn't need to paraphrase HHGttG.
I envision a third world sh*thole where everyone speaks Spanish or Mandarin and toils endlessly for our evil Chinese communist overlords (not protectors) for next to no pay building statues of happily waving ugly Communist Chinese guys in every city square. Glad I won't live to see it.
Could be worse. We could have an Ayatollah.
Maybe you have a less morose vision of the future, so give me a few ideas to make this show a bit happier.

Could do a show of Silly Love Songs and/or Breakup & Hate songs...that February chocolate holiday is coming up real fast now (as if we did not see the merchandise on store shelves on December 26th).
