But it doesn't hurt to ask ppl to vote for other songs if they wish to. They may not really want to spend time scanning the lists for songs randomly, but if someone suggests specific ones, they might just go for it.

My 2 cents anyway...

--- nutcase
The people who vote for one song made a statement: there should be only one #1 song of the year, not two.

Karl,

That's a right neighborly suggestion. I will encourage folks to vote for Derelict and Scary Techno Song also!

--- karlap
Thanks everybody, and keep buying those CDs and passwords and keep voting for Derelict on these last 3 ballots. But instead of voting only for Derelect and nothing else, please vote also for Scary Techno Song # 5006 (The Remix) by Art Paul Schlosser with Michael Hill aka That Guy.

I am also glad to plug Vampire Surprise, and request all of Veronique's (and Art Paul's) voters to vote also for Derelict in return. Don't forget Say Mongoose, Pass The Bong, A Geek Like Me and I Hate Cellphones. (I'm afraid to mention The Infernal Bridegroom and that other song.)

Thanks :-)

Two people bought a NO CD Password and voted only for Derelect and nothing else. You must have generated a following. I can now afford to give my mother a new blender for Christmas since her old one busted.

That is soooo awesome you did ran with my suggestion David! That's what I call a man of action!

Thanks so much. I will encourage friends and fans to take appropriate action!

I could do that. Saves me time involved in sending out the CDs. :-)

Mine hurts too Tim. In my case, it's because of all the math involved. My eyes glaze over at the thought of having to figure out how many people need to purchase which CD how many times in order to multiply their votes by what.

I'd like to present a motion that David installs simple PayPal buttons for the different levels of payola required to multiply votes by various increments for those among us who aren't ready or able to add his fabulous CD's to their collections.

Be a lot easier for me anyway.

;-)

If any of them is #1 all 3 times and none of the other songs get enough additional points, then that song is #1 for 2007.

--- nutcase
I'd still like to see some write-ins for either of the three songs tied with 121 points.
121:Roadtripper - Carrie Dahlby and Possible Oscar / Happy Ranch / The Fump-Volume 2: Mar-Apr 07
121:Man Boobs - Rex Stetson & Bob and Tom Band / Man Boobs
121:99 Words for Boobs - Robert Lund / The Fump-Volume 2: Mar-Apr 07

Whoever votes for one of the last two isn't a boob.

I just bought 2 SA3 and 2 SA4 CDs - one apiece for my friends Matthew McQueen of TunaFix (The Infernal Bridegroom, also lead singer of Automatic Pilot) and Aaron Walz of nR Element (I Hate Cellphones).

So far as Super Extended Stay songs persisting to 2008:

Given there's 3 ballots left left, if all 3 of us vote, that's 2 doubling passwords times 3 voters times 3 ballots equals 18 doubling passwords (presumably with Pete's douboing passwords as insurance).

The 48 points are trickier -- that could be accomplished by being #5 on the 12/17 ballot alone, but even being #1 on both 12/3 and 12/10 ballot would still require being being #18 on 12/17 ballot.

But at this point I'm less intersted in having Derelct In My Doorway persist to 2008 than I am in seeing it at #1 for 2007. Derelict is now tied with Fump at 220 points, with Fump also still on the December ballot. This will be addressed in a separate post.

Finally, I saw DT's $10 donation to The Mad Music Archive and raised it $10.

For Art's song, he has 50 points.

One side effect...

The playing field has been leveled so that songs just coming in late in the year have a better shot of making it into the coveted top 12 of the year.
This means that songs like "Vampire Surprise", which has 60 points so far (it hit #1 for the third time in a row this coming Friday), has a shot of getting as much as 160 points for the year, making it a top 10 song of the year, plus has a shot of being a popular song for 2008 since it's a relative new comer; it can't hit the top six at all since those songs have too many points.

This should be an encouragment for some of the fringe artists who haven't been getting much attention or thinking about the MMDT20 show and could start sending some voters this way to get out the vote.

They can also make a donation to the Mad Music Archive since I copied his donate button on the voting page to make it easier for some to donate to Captain Wayne and help him pay his bills. In fact, I just made a $10 donation to Wayne from that button. You need a PayPal account to donate to the Mad Music Show. It's on the right side of the ballot.

With three weeks to go, 20 points for #1 on 12/7, 20 for 12/14, and 60 for 12/21 (provided that 3/4ths of the points are from Stupid Audio CD owners or else it's 20), songs that are in the top 12 (for the DFSX Time Machine 2007 edition) are subject to change. Only the New England Patriots have all but wrapped up home field advantage at this point.

Songs on the Super Extended Stay:
Automatic Pilot - Say Mongoose
David Tanny - Fump
Automatic Pilot - Derelict In My Doorway
TunaFix - The Infernal Bridegroom
Whimsical Will - Transforming Transformers
Nuclear Bubble Wrap - Can't Rap
They will stay for January 2008 instead of being retired ONLY if a song gets 48 points AND 18 doubling passwords (to make it 36 points)

Songs not on the bubble or super extended stay simply need just a lot of points to leap frog over the others that don't get enough points. Strategy is important. Songs no longer on the ballot can still break ties provided that they get 48 points and 18 doubling passwords and they're written in.

If there are still ties, a coin toss will decide what breaks the ties. Don't let the coin do the job. Get out, register, and vote.
