Captain Wayne is looking into it now.

August is getting closer to the end, I think you should save the missing Christmas show for this Year's December. Also a few weeks ago, I messaged Wayne about fixing the schoolhouse rock glitch ...

Hmm... This might be a good time to make that one. It's another tricky show that's as much about the end of summer as travel. If I didn't do it that way, it could be about any holiday that involves travel - not just Labor Day, so making this has a tight window of opportunity.

I meant you can do the show on travel.

Stavro Arrgolus:

No, show 157. As it says below, it's the lost Halloween show from several years ago. I would have had to make it from scratch as the playlist for it was used in a different show a year or two later.

Labor Day is in a week and ½. It's too late to make holidays show now as the holidays fast approach.

Show number 227

Show number 227

Stavro Arrgolus:

And we're getting too close to Halloween to make MMS-157.

Nothing could have prevented what happened on the 9th. Cancer meds impair your judgment; it stands to reason we shouldn't be driving. But when everyone you've ever known personally is either dead or living elsewhere (mostly dead), you either drive yourself to the damn hospitals or die. There's no real option there.

There is a massive backlog of shorter completed shows to record. I can make one of them when I feel up to it. Which one should it be?...

Of course it's ready. I just haven't had the opportunity to record it yet. There's too much happening on this end. Which is saying quite a bit for someone who's been retired for almost 30 years.

And it's not like Dave would want to make it. Its content & script are far too...objectionable. But then, it's a year's final Xmas show. It's supposed to be a "real mother of a blowout", as Michelangelo told the Pope in that Monty Python bit. When the car/house repair ends around here (resulting in my bank account getting cleaned out), this show gets recorded...first.

So, is the first segment ready yet?

Time's up. This is
next on the production list. As it says in the post below - one segment
at a time posting and all announces will pretend it's last December, but
it's the only Xmas show I'm making this month.

This week - Seg. 1: Father Christmas, Give Us Some Money

Tyro Arrgula   Offline  -  Editor  -  08-04-18 07:59 AM  -  2 months ago

It seems that Uncle Stavro has had quite a week. A super expensive dental filling on Tuesday, then on the way home from a hospital appointment Thursday where his latest specialist bailed on him...AGAIN (too much turnover in that place), he swerved to avoid a car and hit the curb...hard - damaging both right wheels & losing both hubcaps.

He's not making any shows anytime soon. He needs meds just to keep from smashing things. ...Well, more things. I haven't seen him this pissed off in quite a while. Too many expenses all at once. And right after he had to replace his audio receiver last month.

Yeah. The old man's really, REALLY mad.

He'll make the show when he manages to calm down. And there are no more breakables in his house.
Tyro Arrgula   Offline  -  Editor  -  07-31-18 06:00 AM  -  2 months ago

...Did I mention that Xmas show 4 & the completion of Halloween show 3 (both for last year) will now be the entire focus of the Mad Music Show? Uncle won't stop posting segments of both until they're done...to the exclusion of everything else. Both will be full 2 hour shows.

When will this posting start, you ask? After the Novocaine wears off from the big filling he has scheduled for today's dentist visit. Probably longer.  - He'll want a long nap after that.

When will the holiday madness cease? When he's caught up on the shows OR when "Talk Like A Pirate Day" arrives. Whichever comes first. The day after that, pirates become zombies and the Halloween show assembly starts.

"That took long enough" - said Uncle Stavro after deleting hundreds of spam posts by the same idiot. It turned out to be a more involved problem than anticipated. He says all the spam was posted before the 2007 site upgrade that added the improved security since every one of them said "11 years ago".

Now he can finally get on with recording this show. Right after he gets some rest. No sleep in 3 days. That's not the spam, it's the chronic insomnia. What the living have to endure...

New show segment this week. Even if a vampire has to record it. It'll just have to be 'Christmas in August.'

Stavro Arrgolus   Online  -  Editor, MP3  -  07-25-18 05:59 PM  -  2 months ago

And now, a party political broadcast on behalf of the Silly Party

Having completed the preparations for seg. 1 of the "new" Xmas show, I've noticed during the show's research that there's assloads of spam on song pages that I've missed for a ridiculously long time - mainly perpetrated by one foreign assclown all at once...before I became editor.

As in 11+ years ago. Or most certainly before I was given moderator access and began dropkicking Russian/Chinese/African spammer jackoffs and being even more sarcastic than usual about it.

Having found the outlandish amount of spam from this one jackoff (or some of it anyway), I'm going to delay the recording of this show until early next week and actually do my damn job as editor & eliminate as much of this spam as possible. This will take some time as hundreds of malicious/perverted/sick spam posts were made by the aforementioned jackoff, but fixing the site comes first when you're editor. Or it should, anyway. Since I can never get through to Wayne, I have to eliminate it all manually - one by one.

So if you see any of this spam, don't keep it to yourself; remember to shout, "¡CUIDADO! ¡LLAMAS!" ...or actually telling me would work as well. Yeah, let's go with that.

IT'S BAAAAACK!

Xmas in July is almost here! A brand new full 2 hour Christmas show is on the way after the 4th of July show.

Is it actually new - or being made for "Xmas in July" specifically? HELL, NO!

It's really MMS-223, the episode I ran out of time attempting to make for the "Xmas IV" show last year. It was meant to put an exclamation point on the series of Xmas shows we actually made. The playlist & script remain complete and the mp3s were gathered. I just need to record it.

For the record, we did make the usual 4 Xmas shows last year. But one of them was a podcast. I had a final 2 hour show in the works when I got too exhausted from the effort of show making and ran out of time before I could crank this one out.

That gets fixed next month. It'll probably take most of the month to make it one segment at a time, but you'll never be without a new Xmas show segment to hear when you're broiling in the July heat.

Like all summer activities, this show will be made at a leisurely pace, but this time, it will be made. The announces will all say that the show is the final Xmas special of 2017 - but we know it's being made for your summer enjoyment.
Stavro Arrgolus   Online  -  Editor, MP3  -  01-20-18 12:58 PM  -  8 months ago

This one quickly became a favorite of mine as it's a Xmas song that can be played when it's not Xmas...like now. I added it to the final segment weeks ago when I knew the show wasn't going to happen during the holidays.

I temporarily won the war against winter, but I always forget what a toll it takes on me. I had to go the the bank on Friday (or else). I had forgotten to earlier in the week. It was -5° with a -29° wind chill. It took 10 minutes to get the frozen car hood open and another 5 to jump start it and yet another 25 to unfreeze the gas line just to make it there. Hope nothing cracked & I go out again to find no gas in the car. Global warming my ass!

But it's done. I don't have to go out again for a while. However, I'm too exhausted to make a 2 hour show. It takes me days to recover from these things now.

I'm still leaning toward a New Year's podcast hosted by Celestra Arrgula. A few test recordings with Audacity (yes, I know there's a new version, but I'm not switching over until they work the bugs out of it) proved successful, so I've a new 'vampire character' option & a means to improve the others.

I really would like Wayne to send me an updated spreadsheet of podcastables so I can make better (& more frequent) podcasts, but...you know.

So, the plan is for a New Year podcast as soon as I feel up to it. As in not today, but soon...

(Celestra Arrgula is the last of the 5 vampire characters I made for The Sims 2 Nightlife expansion pack years ago. I had to call the character something and this was it. Yes, she's named after the pizza.

She's the only one of the 5 who never appeared on the show in one form or another. Unlike the other vampires (except for the Viscount), she has no problem with Stavro's questionable & occasionally blasphemous show style and will contentedly join in on the filth - but only on her own terms.)

Stavro Arrgolus:

On the third day of Christmas...

The great winter battle was waged. Old guy vs. sub-zero wind chills & blowing snow. It took all day, but I managed to rescue my battered police car from the grip of winter, got it to start without cracking the engine block, escaped the snowbound driveway, went down into the town, paid off my P.O. box that I've had for 45 years with only days to spare, retrieved the necessary pharmaceuticals in order to "not die" (a very important little detail), gassed up the car so the fuel lines wouldn't freeze and made it home with both car intact & no frostbite.

Victory is mine! February weather is defeated in December...at least for now.

All this probably sounds comical - if you're under 50. The rest of you know exactly what I mean. Assuming there are any you left here, of course.

The upshot of all this is that I can now focus on this show - when I'm no longer ludicrously tired. Though I wonder if anyone wants to hear it now. After all, I've made 2 full shows & a podcast. That's more than I did last year. Dave made a show also.

4 shows...that was the goal & we managed it. Maybe I should save this one for Xmas in July. OR I could make another Xmas podcast and let Celestra host it - the one vampire who hasn't hosted a show yet.

Perhaps I should contemplate this when I'm not so tired.

Show 4's assembly & mp3 collecting was completed some time ago. It's just a matter of finalizing the script (I never seem to be satisfied with it) & recording the episode.

Meatspace is interfering again. There are things I need to get out & do this week or else. A white Xmas means I have to extricate the car from the snow & escape the driveway. Easy when you're 40, but over 70 -  a below zero wind chill means potential heart attacks & icy death. Actually getting the car to start is another issue entirely.

This final Xmas show will be recorded when it can be & posted one segment at a time. Just like always.

Actually, that song is on a playlist for TMMS this year...just not mine. Dave is making show 3 and sent me his playlist so nothing would be copied. I saw that it's scheduled for show 3 (it fits his theme) on or around the 18th. He can call it a request from you when the time comes if he sees this - and the show's not made already.

e8 correctly noticed that I'm in the habit of removing the "Request songs for" from the thread title when a playlist is finished. Show 1 is long since complete & show 4 soon will be. Show 2 is the one with the half hour requests segment, so I'm letting that sit until all the requests are in.

You can request more than one, of course, and I can play that.

Time for some revision. I'm feeling better, so Xmas 2 is back on again. This requires another adjustment in the segment lists.

As seen below, Seg 3 will be called "Don We Now Our Gay Apparel...Not That there's Anything Wrong With That".

Seg 4 will feature the annual 'End of Xmas' sequence with more classics starting it off first.

This show will have a request segment. There's a backlog of Xmas requests & it's long past time I got to them.

Since Hanukkah begins around the time of this show's posting (12/11), there will be at least one segment for that in this episode.

And I know "All You Need IS Elves" is bad grammar. The title is a reference to the Bob Rivers parody of the same name.

An effort will be made to make this show SFW. How successful it will be is up in the air right now.

Seg 2: Jesus Christ is in Heaven Now

Xmas songs that mention you-know-who by name.

Seg 3: Don We Now Our Gay Apparel...Not That There's Anything Wrong With That

And it's just what you think it's about.

Crap. I was concerned that long title wouldn't fit. I must have subconsciously left it out. If you make one of these shows, there is a finite number of characters you can add - presumably so no jackoff can add a whole book to the title and crash the site somehow. My titles may be long sometimes, but at least they're concise.

Yes, it would be nice to have a bit more room there - what with the HTML to add that makes the number red or green and the mandatory opening - let alone the title itself.

All things considered, I'd rather have Wayne fix some of the forums. Some have their post orders backwards (you've seen it) The latest post is supposed to be on top. On many, it no longer is. Worse, when you save a post, it doesn't appear. You have to navigate away and return to the page to see it. This little detail has confused many - including me when it became a bug from last year's upgrade.

Then there's the auto-center mode the input box is in. That's just an annoyance and doesn't affect the post itself. It would be ok to leave that if necessary, but if the other stuff is being fixed...

And don't get me started on the album edit page. But fixes for members ease of use comes first. And yes, I typed this out so I'd remember it when an opportune moment for fixing arrived. I could point to it or copy & paste it.

But first, I'll see if there's room to add to this show title. There, done.

Apparently, I had quite of bit of pent up Xmas in me, so that first show got themed out rather quickly. Also, too many songs didn't fit the shows four segment themes. Despite the show title, this show will be less cynical and bawdy than the first with more classic & requests. And if you believe that, I've got some real estate in Florida to sell y...oh, you get the idea.
