I as well will pay tribute to Jimmy Castor on my next show and will play maybe two of his songs towards the last minutes of hour one.

I think I'm having an idea for a Cap'n's Treasure Chest segment...

The legendary funk/disco saxophonist passed away today at the age of 64 from unknown causes.
Today, Hip Hop lost one of it's most sampled and beloved forefathers. Jimmy Castor, saxophonist and leader of the seminal funk/disco group Jimmy Castor Bunch, passed away today at 64.
According to Prefix Mag, the legendary saxophonist who struck it big in 1972 with the song "Troglodyte (Cave Man)" passed away at 2:30 p.m. at the age of 64 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The causes of his death are currently unknown.
Castor's music has been sampled by dozens of Hip Hop artists over the years, including Eric B. and Rakim, the Ultramagnetic MCs, N.W.A., Kanye West and others. His song "It's Just Begun" also became a staple break of '70s and '80s b-boy scene, even appearing as the backing track for the Rock Steady Crew in the film Flashdance.
DX sends its condolences to Castor's family and friends.
