This show is complete. It has been expanded from 30 minutes. There will now be three songs on each side of the new features making nine songs per show. With the podcast sorted out, I can now concentrate on the main show.

I just was able to play part of a show using the "built in mp3 player" link on the bottom of the show page.

I have flash 11.1 on my Android 2.2 device (Samsung Vibrant)

Can the MadMusic Flash player be put back to an older version so it would be compatable with Android?

Problem with smartphones right now is that many cannot play streaming media. While mine is fine with YouTube videos (but only with the YouTube app), it has a problem with streaming music from this site. Apparently, it requires a version of Flash (9.0) that is not yet available for an Android device.

Once that compatibility issue is fixed (which I'm sure will happen) the next hurdle is the high cost of data access. Fine if you're using your own home network or public wifi... but your phone company's data access can be expensive if you wish to stream in your car.

Are there streaming tools (I'm on Android) that allow you to pause and return to it sometime later? (like the next day).

I seldom have the time to listen to an entire show in one sitting. It took me a few days to listen to a show back in the old days.

The thing is, with smartphones and wireless internet connections on them, the concept of the podcast is starting to get... quaint. Why take the time to download a podcast when you can just stream?

Make no mistake, MM.com's current model is the way of the future.

Stavro Arrgolus:

Time to mention it again...

The podcast can only legally play Creative Commons material or things permission has been given for or the rights have been bought. When we could play anything on the podcast, we had more than 3400 active members. We have just under 600 now. Not becoming the next victim of an out of control RIAA was a costly decision.

This is just a thread made to gauge the reaction to the new podcast features. Wayne already knows I'm not into movies, but what about the rest of you? Did you listen to his sci-fi & movie update features? Do you want them in next week's show?

Maybe I should have put all this in the MMS-10 thread... oh, well.

And the experiment continues. The next podcast will have no theme and we'll see if it makes a damn bit of difference.

Meanwhile, this thread isn't for requests, but rather to snag some opinions of the new podcast features.

Were the new movie and sci-fi updates interesting?

Were there enough songs? Had to take some out to fit in the features. If not, what do you think of a 45 minute podcast that would get those missing songs in?
