fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d Thanks Wayne. All 6 segments now sound great, like usual.
For those who need to re-download the show, go for it - www.themadmusicarchive.com/playlist.aspx?Show=MMS-98
--- Captain Wayne Yeah, that did the trick. I don't think it was an ASC vs. BIN transfer problem, but it was the FTP.
I switched back to WSFTP instead of the newer FTP Voyager and the segment sounded perfect. I'll set them to all re-upload and then I'm off to bed (work tomorrow again - ugh).

--- Captain Wayne The sizes match.
So I downloaded the files from the site and yep - I'm hearing them now. I'll re-upload them. (well, one and test, then if okay, the rest).
(later)
I re-uploaded one file, downloaded it and it's still got those gaps - 0.058 seconds each! Bummer. I'm going to try a different FTP software.

fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d whats going on....is our website haunted...
somebody might want to try an exorcism.
|
|
fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d That's what it is. The upload changed the file a bit. I use CuteFTP and it works good. Make sure to upload them in "Binary" not in ASCII.
Just a thought, the problem might even be with mypodcasts.net.

fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d All 6 files of part 3 have this "skipping sound" every 10 seconds or so. I also use Winamp. If you are listening to the files you've made before you had uploaded them, they probably sound fine. Try downloading them all at once and then have a listen. I suspect the file size has changed on the server where you uploaded them to.
Here are the file sizes shown on my PC (WIN-XP PRO SP-2):
TheMadMusicShow98-1_128k.mp3 - 19,626KB TheMadMusicShow98-2_128k.mp3 - 19,314KB TheMadMusicShow98-3_128k.mp3 - 18,814KB TheMadMusicShow98-4_128k.mp3 - 21,095KB TheMadMusicShow98-5_128k.mp3 - 21,626KB TheMadMusicShow98-6_128k.mp3 - 20,126KB
See if this matches what you have.
--- Captain Wayne I'm listening to it here and not hearing it.
I used the same program to upload that I used on the other 2 shows so I'm not understanding why/where the problem is.
Can someone point out exactly where they hear a skip so I can see if it's in the file itself?
BTW, I'm listening using WinAMP.
--- MarlinsGirl I noticed the skipping as well.

fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d It most likely wasn't uploaded properly. The file size may of changed during the upload. I tried downloading this again using I.E. 7.0 and noticed the same problem as it was with Firefox.
OK, at least it wasn't just on my end. The other two parts (1 & 2) sounded very good.
--- Stavro288 Yes, I sent Wayne a message about the new show skipping a while ago. I thought it just downloaded badly at my end also...

fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d Great show Capt!
I'm listening to part 3 right now, and there seems to be something wrong with the 128k mp3 files I've just downloaded. There's a short interruption in the audio every few seconds or so. It's not too noticeable, but kind of annoying, as I am listening to it with a pair of high quality headphones.
Maybe it's just on my end, but does anyone else have the same problem too?

fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d The final Halloween show for the year is posted!

fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d I would like to request Rubber Room by Porter Wagoner for the last of the Halloween shows. It's kinda creepy.

fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d Thanks Boris - I can never listen to any of his favorites (especially anything by Gene Moss) without thinking about him.
I miss him too.

|
fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d I couldn't think of a better place to put this, so I wanted to say thanks for your shout-out to Hackinbush during the first Halloween show. He was a good friend of mine before TMMS ever got started and I'm still bummed at his passing away.

fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d Your the greatest Captain Wayne. We also want to thank you for all your hard work and the best comedy music show out there. Without you no one would even know we exist. Spookster Spookster and The Scaremenots

|
fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d I owe HUGE APOLOGY to Spookster & The Scaremenots as I left their contest entries out of the show accidently. I will be playing them on Wednesday's show - and they are included in the voting so please consider them as well.
Which reminds me - THE VOTING PAGE IS HERE!
(There is also a link on the home page)
Voting closes Wednesday at 5:00pm my time so you have until then to vote - plus you can change your votes at any time until the deadline!

fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d You are letting your priorities get out of order, m'lad (says the guy who basically took a couple months off from the Internet because of a new job)
--- Captain Wayne Sorry to say this folks (again) but Episode 1 of the 3-part Halloween Special will be delayed a day or two (or 3).
I have a contractor coming in the morning and to prepare for him I had about 18 hours of work to do. Unfortunately I thought it would only take 8 - just my luck. I ended up working all weekend just to be ready.
Anyway, I'll get this posted ASAP!!
I have tomorrow off work but have an evening meeting - and another one after work on Tuesday. I'm hoping to get it done tomorrow, but no promises.

fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d I like this idea muy much :)
--- Adam Even if the show isn't out in time, you could still do that with a past Halloween show. Neat idea.
--- HalfBee Perhaps if the show's out before the actual day of Halloween, I'm tempted to burn it onto some CDs in MP3 format and hand it out to those "older" kids who come to the door (you know the ones who shouldn't be begging for candy anyways...)
|
|
fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d Put me down for "Skullcrusher Mountain" and "Re: Your Brains" also
Plus if you play Zombie Jamboree I want to hear the version by Rockapella. I can't believe only five guys can get that many rhythms going at once.
--- devospice Put me down for:
"Halloween" by Heywood Banks "Nothing's Gonna Tear Us Apart (Love Theme From Stupid Teenagers Must Die) by Raymond and Scum "Monster Rap" by Bobby Boris Picket "Skullcrusher Mountain" and "Re: Your Brains" by Jonathan Coulton "Zombie Jamborie", the newer version, I think, is the one I prefer
Also, there was some song but I don't know who sang it or what it was called. But it was basically about a guy who went to eat at a diner, then later he told a cop about it and the cop said the diner burned down years ago, and then later he told someone else, who told him that cop died rescuing people from the fire or something like that. There was 4 or 5 things this guy did that were basically all ghosts and he kept telling other ghosts about it. I hope that's enough for you to find it. I really don't know any more than that.

We don't get all that many (usually about 60 or so total) so a dozen CDs would probably do fine. I just hope it's appropriate content and doesn't come back to me in the form of parental complaints...
|
|
fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d Ditto here. In fact, if things get worse, we may only have one this year!
--- peterpuck9 I'm guessing there won't be three shows.

fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d That would be Ghost County U.S.A by Travesty Ltd.
I'll second it.

fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d Maybe Swamp Thing by The Grid could be added if instrumentals are being requested.
Alex.
--- Stavro288
and request excerpts from instrumentals-
Frankenstein - Edgar Winter (from 'They Only Come Out At Night') or even... Tears of Blood - Matt Fink (from 'Music of the Vampires')
--- Tim P. Ryan ...we don't need to reshuffle all of the songs from last year...
|
|
fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d I don't think we need be too concerned with rehashing last year's tunes. If you look at Dr. D.'s Halloween playlists, many of the same songs come up every year. Listeners have come to think of these songs as seasonal favorites and there aren't a massive number of really good Halloween songs to fill multiple shows with anyway, as there are for Xmas. With the contest songs included, there should be enough variation so that no single show sounds just like last year's.
But if we need to fill things out a bit with the more mundane, I'll 3rd-
The Legend of Wooley Swamp - The Charlie Daniels Band The Creature from the Black Lagoon - Dave Edmunds and request excerpts from instrumentals-
Frankenstein - Edgar Winter (from 'They Only Come Out At Night') or even... Tears of Blood - Matt Fink (from 'Music of the Vampires')

fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d I like all of these. I would also like to add Feed my Frankenstein - Alice Cooper. Terri M.
--- Tim P. Ryan Since we got three weeks, and we don't need to reshuffle all of the songs from last year, I think a few Rockober Creeps would sound good, even though they are not punchline funny, but are fun, such as a couple of these: Devil Inside - INXS Eye Of The Zombie - John Fogerty The Legend of Wooley Swamp - The Charlie Daniels Band Born Under a Bad Sign - Cream The Creature from the Black Lagoon - Dave Edmunds
The listing of my Creepy Collection is in this thread

fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d i like suspense as much as horror. remember "the complacent american"? it was a civil defense LP put out during the cold war. THAT'S scary. i also remember another recording where a drunk retired man's car stopped on the railroad tracks with his wife at the wheel. soon a train whistle is heard in the distance....then the fun begins!
if you want to get real ambitious you could play a recording of orson wells' WAR OF THE WORLDS. maybe spread it out over two shows.
i love "theater of the mind",and halloween is a great time of year for that.

fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d something a little different.... "hog killin' day" by gid tanner and the skillet lickers.
it's not exactly a halloween song, but it has an autumn feel to it. there's some great old blue grass music, and some real strange dialouge....
"dad shore do love brains and eggs."
"brains and eggs? i like them my-self !"
"mighty fine."
hey, maybe it DOES fit in with halloween after all! i'm sure the day was a nightmare for the hogs!

Note: This one's not eligable for the Halloween Song contest, as far as I can tell. It's a new recording, but of an old song from one of my out-of-print albums.
