Well, in this season of peace on earth and good will towards our fellow man, I thought I'd list some of my favorite songs that may or may not be appropriate here. Keep in mind that I am a kids pastor so there isn't going to be any expletives on my list :)

I have absolutely fallen in love with "Chiron Beta Prime" by Jonathan Coulton. I knew him through others playing "Re: Your Brains" and "Code Monkey" but that CBV may be my favorite Christmas dementia right now.

I grew up listening to John Denver and the Muppets every Christmas and I still have the CD. Little Saint Nick, Christmas is Coming, and the 12 Days of Christmas by the Muppets are both great.

Another one I have recently found is Louie Armstrong's rendition of "'Zat You Santa Claus?" I do a great Louie Armstrong impersonation at Karaoke with "What A Wonderful World" and love his stuff, so this was a no-brainer.

Weird Al's two Christmas songs are staple.

I got a job once puppeting by perfoming "The Hat I Got For Christmas Is Too Big" by Mel Blanc. Fun stuff.

One of the ones I have loved for the last few years is the abominable version of "Oh Holy Night" and seeing that article about its origin on the forums the other day didn't diminish my love for it, it just explained how it came to be. A guy messing up on purpose with so much energy is just as great as someone doing it with that energy accidentally.

As a kids pastor, I also know quite a bit of Veggietales and think "Sizzle Boy" by 'The Boyz N The Sink" is great as well as "Jingle-Jingle-Ca-Ching."

There are others I am discovering by listening to the Christmas shows and the Christmas voting, such as a Pirate Chistmas and Podsafe Christmas Song. There are a lot of people on here who have a lot of talent and I'm glad to get to know the work.

One of the best artists for family friendly Christmas dementia is Spike Jones. About half of my collection of Spike Jones 78s includes Christmas songs. Of course, the one that most people think about first is "All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth". One of my most valuable in that category is "The Nutcracker Suite", which is seldom heard in its entirety on any Spike Jones collection albums or CDs.

Another prize from my 78 collection is an original of David Seville's "Chipmunk Song", with the non-chipmunk "Almost Good" on the A side. Sadly, my copy does not sound as great as it did when new. It was played just a few too many times.

A favourite (which I'm still trying to find) released on 45 in 1964 is "Ring Deer", by Canadian D.J. (from CHUM Radio in Toronto), Garry Ferrier. It was a Beatles inspired Christmas tune about a reindeer with a Beatle haircut and a nose like Ringo's. I'd love to hear somebody play that one... if it can be found.

While I am a huge fan of Louie, I wouldn't mind someone else. I didn't realize the Electric Mayhem did a version of it. Let's do that one :)

I'm getting to those two requests for next weekend.

I have Zat You Santa Claus by Brian Setzer5, Asylum Street Spankers, and Electric Mayhem Band. Which do you prefer, or is there one I could find on Shareaza?

That'd be fantastic, but I think I already suggested Chiron Beta Prime and The Night Santa Went Crazy. If you can find 'Zat you, Santa Claus, I'd be satisfied :)

Thanks for sharing. Want me to play some of them on the Mad Music Comedy Zone show for Dec 20?
