Since this spammer seems to have a grasp of English (unlike the Chinese and the Bangladeshi spammers last month), as per the site owner's instructions, spamboy is given a warning this time.
These guys usually spam once and aren't heard from again. They must get paid by the number of sites they spam. But if not, his spammy ass is suspended next time.

What I do is type it out, assume it'll error and copy the post then paste it in after having it error over and over. You have to be tenacious to get in a post and this more than a visitor is willing to do. Add to that having pages take a month to load and this is why we have only 270 members right now.

So it'll be quite a while. I'd still like a banner to counter those ads. They're not nasty or anything- the one displayed now is for e-mail marketing. It'd just be nice to have something piratey to balance it out.

Thanks Max. The banner with the correct aspect (and all new banners from #533 on) are not displaying properly. I had to substitute an old banner which is not originally 160 x 800.
Stavro: Until Wayne fixes the display problem I really can't post any new banner ideas anywhere here.
You guys might try downloading my new banner ( vert banner test #536) directly from my My MadSpace pages, if you can display a flash file on your own computer.

The previous post was fine on the old site but doubled up on the new one. When I erased one of the doubles, they both vanished. I copied the text 1st- as I'm a firm believer in Murphy's law. I was expecting both to vanish for no good reason and they did. Pessimism is just sensible these days.
Update: Doubling was caused by multiple browser tests & multiple logins. It'll all still need fixing before the new site launch.
So that's why my previous post has moved. Also, the text has shifted - the 1st word of each paragraph is now on the line above where it was before the copy & pasting. Don't know what's causing that.

back to this. We're working out what color everything is to be. Maybe
you can make a banner with piratey symbolism to inspire Wayne to use
more pictures. He thinks they're too silly and unprofessional. I think
they can be done tastefully if done correctly.

I think that even though I uploaded a .swf (Flash) banner, the current site is not recognizing that it is a flash banner. I use the same display code as before and any banner uploaded before #533 displays fine. Anything after that causes problems.

That example banner needs to come out or everyone who uses FF will get the yellow message bar across the top asking to load the mystery plugins. Width looks right for the size I see here on the new site. Is that really 800 pixels long? It's much shorter than the ad on the right of the screen I see (it's for 'Music 123 Outlet' at the moment).

I'm taking a class in Manhattan this week for work so I'm only home for about 2.5 hours a day (minus sleep) - 5:00am rise for 2.5 hour commute to the city. Then 9.0 hours of school, then another 3 hours home (evening traffic). I've been getting home at around 7:00pm, then to bed by 9:30.
It's a cool class though - a lot of SQL reporting and best practices. It should have positive effect on the site when I have the time to implement some of it!
I also got an announcement from our Podcaster Service - good things afoot there too! More on that later...

It had been mentioned that my banner may not be appropriate because it uses the iPod however I just noticed the one saying Go Go Gadget iPod in the rotation, so perhaps it is acceptable now.

fjrigjwwe9r2threads:MessageText fiogf49gjkf0d There is a program called "Gimp" that is available for most platforms, if I remember right, that is basically a Photoshop work-alike. OK, you don't get all the plugins and the controls will be different (disclaimer: I use Gimp, but don't know squat about Photoshop, so take anything I say about Photoshop with a 14 oz canister of salt) but the price is right (free) and it will do some amazing stuff.
I used GIMP to make the "I iz listen to . . . " banner ad at the bottom of this thread. You create your animation frames, place them in "layers" in the master copy, and then save the master as a GIF, specifying that it's an animation (as opposed to "flattening" the layers so you see them all at once) and specify the interval between frame changes.
The one thing I haven't figured out how to do in Gimp yet is set different intervals for the frames. As it is they all have to stay active for the same amount of time, as far as I can tell. However, I suppose you could create an animated GIF in Gimp and then finish it up with a different editor that will let you specify multiple frame times.
If this sounds like what you're interested in let me know and I'll see if I can dig up a download link later. Let me know what OS you use.

I use Photoshop Elements(not cheap) for everything I design, but they're all static images. I've never created a Gif animation, is it easy?
I'd like to try it, if only to modify an avatar.
