I'd love to hear that version of My Old Flame.

For those who are too young to remember, it was Peter Lorre's distinctive voice that was parodied in the second verse of the original version of that song.

--- peterpuck9
I request it for Halloween....Thanks.......Pete

--- macca45
Hey Cap'n or other interested crew members.

Listening to an old Spike Jones radio show from the late 1940s, with Peter Lorre as that week's guest.
At the end of the show, Peter joined the band for HIS take on 'My Old Flame'
Ill send it if over if anyone wants to hear it in the treasure chest.

You probably heard about the download lawsuit that took place in Minnesota the other day. That reminded me of "Don't Download This Song" by Weird Al. Could you play it?

I just heard the news of the death of Tammy Faye Messner..... formerly known as Tammy Faye Bakker.

To celebr..... I mean...... commemorate the event, I'd like to request "The Ballad Of Jim And Tammy" by Tammy Faye Bakker.

An alternate choice that almost fits would be, "Supertelevangelistic Sex and Drugs Psychosis", by Robert Lund.

Gee ... I had almost forgotten about this .... back in 1989, after Jim Bakker got caught with Jessica Hahn and the roof fell in on the PTL empire, I recorded a song about them. It's a parody of Elvis's "Blue Suede Shoes" called "Blue Denim Suit". You can download it here:

www.nworbcire.com/knowtalent/Blue_Denim_Suit.mp3

(In case you don't get it, prisoners sometimes wear blue denim.)

Back in my days, if you wanted to request a song, you drove 15 miles to the station and had to pay the jockey to play it.
Now they have this internetty thing and with the click of a button, it is sent instantly.

Got a request for the treasure chest, as someone who remembers vividly everything mentioned in the song.

Getting Old Sucks by Sudden Death.

As someone who is starting out on their 6th decade, Spice has my sympathies

What with 4th of July coming up and corporate greed spoiling our fun soon after, I think a good song for the segment would be 'Cool, Cool Considerate Men'- the song that Nixon ordered excised from the Broadway musical '1776'. It fits what's happening these days a little too well.

That's also on the MARSCON benefit CD which I have. How is the rest of "Happy Ranch"?......P

Well I like D too but maybe I'm bias because I wrote that song.
Another song I like is What's Wrong With This Song.
but to be honest, which may get me in trouble I didn't really get into The Songs for Buffy Kitty which are almost every other tract but maybe you will ?
Also her 2 Scifi songs Any Watcher Dude and Hedwing Robison(To Mrs Robinson) where not as interesting as some of the great LukeSki's scifi hits but who am I to say what is a Scifi hit when my Scifi song Another Star Trek Sequel Blues made Apple iTunes worst list.

Actaully to be fair you should check out what Baron David E Romm said about her CD community.livejournal.com/marscondementia/8025.html?#cutid1

One song which is not my favorite but I have to admit is quite well written is I Really Did Go To School Naked got played on David E Romm's radio show Shock Wave radio which on www.kfai.org and you can hear it and my song I'm A Cheesehead from Saturday's radio show which is now podcast at

Don Bowman - Hello D.J.

Wayne could also use this segment for requests that didn't make in the topic of the week before.

Came across a band from Canada, Great Big Sea, a Celtic, folk, country band.
A track off one of their albums would seem to fit into this show.

I request -

Captain Kidd by Great Big Sea.

Alex.

How about a duet by a Mad Music Artist and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner:

"It's a Hard Business" by Wild Man Fischer and Rosemary Clooney - from the limited-release 1999 Rhino album "The Fischer King" and featured in the doucumntary "Derailroaded".

I'd like to request a Weird Al song I just discovered - it came with a childrens book the wifey just bought for the kids. This may be the first instance of a Mad Music Artist and an Academy Award nominee singing a duet:

"I Need a Nap"
by Weird Al and Kate Winslet

It's from a book/cd called "Dog Train, and other improbable songs by Sandra Boynton"

sounds great except St. Patrick's Day is on the 17th.

Terri M.

Here are a couple for St. Patrick's Day:

Larry The Lunar Leprechaun - UFO Phil
The Irish Ballad - Tom Lehrer

--- Captain Wayne

It's a good spot for topical stuff too - like St. Patrick's Day on the 18th...

I second "I've Got Ants In My Pants"

Could you play a tribute to James Brown? I've Got Ants In My Pants is fine. Thanks......Pete

I think songs for 'The Treasure Chest' are going to come from all areas. One-Click requests (if I have a high count), off-topic phone calls, personal e-mails, rare finds I make, etc. It'll be a catch-all for 'good' requests and "rarities".

It's a good spot for topical stuff too - like St. Patrick's Day on the 18th...

All-in-all, I'll probably be the one to pick which songs make it - but don't let that stop you from influencing me!

<grin>

The requests for it had to go somewhere, so here's a thread for them. Since it's just 1 segment a week, I figured maybe 1 or 2 requests each would be enough to give Wayne a list to choose from. No separate dates should be needed, since these are just requests with no theme. I'll start with...

All Things Dull and Ugly - Monty Python

The Rhubarb Tart Song - John Cleese (from 'At Last, The 1948 Show')
