The uncensored version of "Christian Bale's Chipmunk" is now available on the The FuMP:

You may want headphones for this. Chipmunks truly are potty-mouth little SOBs.

Cool, Jake! Thanks for letting me know!

Hey, everyone: "Save Me, Obama" is a new Robert Lund parody of the Beatles' "Lady Madonna." It might be making an appearance on the FuMP in the near future; meanwhile you can hear it on our MySpace page. Lyrics and link here:
www.spaff.com/poesy/obama.html

And speaking of new Robert Lund songs, check out "Christian Bale's Chipmunk." It's a parody of David Seville's "Witch Doctor" starring (you guessed it) Christian Bale as (you guessed it again) a chipmunk. It's one you definitely have to hear to believe:

The problem with everlasting love is that it too often ain't. There ARE ways, fortunately, to guarantee that your true love will never leave.

Robert Lund has reunited with lead singer Mercy Malick, uberproducer Bob Emmet, and lyricist Spaff - the team who brought you "Sarah Palin vs. The Flobots" - to address this issue via a reimagining of Shania Twain's crossover hit "Forever and for Always."

Lyrics, credits, and download link here:
www.spaff.com/poesy/keeping_you.html

The MP3 is free (courtesy of The FuMP) while supplies last.

The "Add Topic" button hates me, so I'm going to hijack my own Robert Lund thread for this:

Ever wonder what it would be like if Pink sang a two-minute medley of Christmas songs to the tune of her current (and biggest) hit?

No?

So What.

If you think "The Christmas Shoes" is the absolute worst Christmas song ever, you haven't heard "The Christmas Thong."

Check it out on the Dr. Demento Show this weekend.

It's also free on the FuMP, but only for a limited time. So hurry, but please avoid trampling the temps.

Hey Terri.

Thanks again for the compliment - and for your patience. After waiting in the wings since spring, "I'm Everything" will finally make its FuMP debut this Friday. BUT WAIT - THERE'S MORE! It will also come complete with the very first bona fide Robert Lund music video, made by a bona fide filmmaker with a bona fide crew. (I was there for the shoot and they had it all - gaffer, key grip, best boy, you name it.) I've seen preliminary edits of the video and I'm thrilled. Anyway...just two short days and the wait will be over!

Those of you who listen to the radio may be familiar with the Flobots song "Handlebars." It's the one that goes, "I can ride my bike with no handlebars. No handlebars. No handlebars." (Really. I'm not making this up.)

So I got to thinking (which is admittedly a bad idea): If Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin were singing this song, what skills would she brag about?

The result is the new Robert Lund song, "Sarah Palin vs. The Flobots." Lead vocals are by Mercy Malick, who also portrays Alaska's governor in a series called "Bibleside Chat with Sarah Palin," available on the internets.

The song is available free (for a limited time!) from the Funny Music Project. Lyrics, links, etc., are here: www.spaff.com/poesy/palin.html

Since I can't start a new topic for some reason, I'll hijack my Robert Lund thread for this....

TV'S KYLE & SPAFF.COM'S KLONDIKE BAR CONTEST ENTRY

A while back, "Jukebox Jake" Waters told us all about a "What Would You Do for a Klondike Bar?" video contest and posted his example video, which Klondike paid him (or at least SHOULD have paid him) millions of dollars to create. Here's the thread: www.themadmusicarchive.com/thread.aspx?TopicID=3059

I'm knocked out by TV's Kyle's talents in animation and music production, so I suckered him into collaborating with me on a contest entry. I wrote song lyrics and a script, and then he did all the hard work in bringing the monster to life.

There will be a chance for the public to vote on our contest entry on the Klondike site, and once someone figures out how that all works, I'll be sure to harass you all into voting. Meanwhile, for those who want to see our video, Kyle has put it up on YouTube:

Thanks, Terri. Very cool of you.

"I'm Everything" is one of my very favorite Robert Lund songs, and it has been in about-to-appear-on-the-FuMP mode since April - fwiw, Dr. Demento played it on his 4/20 show - but I keep bumping it for other RL songs that are (arguably) more timely*. The next RL FuMP date is 8/19, and "I'm Everything" is currently scheduled for then. But you just never know what's gonna happen in the next few weeks. If they were to discover a meth lab in Rush Limbaugh's basement, for example, then I would absolutely have to do a song about that, and "I'm Everything" would get bumped to September.

*Here's an example (and a plug within a plug): We made sure to get "I Peed in the Pool" up on the FuMP while Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" was #1 on Billboard. www.thefump.com/fump.php?id=1072

Friday's release of The Dark Knight puts Batman back on the big screen. As for Robin, he's tragically been left in the closet once again. But will WE ever forget about the Boy Wonder? Golly gee no, Batman!

Robert Lund's latest contribution to the Funny Music Project is a tribute to BOTH members of the Dynamic Duo, via a parody of the Eagles' "Life in the Fast Lane." It's called, of course, "Life in the Bat Cave." Lyrics, free download link, etc., here:

Thank you for the comments, kiddos! And now this:

Good Charlotte's Benji Madden just wrote a love song, "Shine Your Light," for Paris Hilton. Which is not only sweet but appropriate; everyone agrees that the world needs more love songs written for Paris Hilton.

So I wrote another one. It's a heartfelt parody of Bachman-Turner Overdrive's "Takin' Care of Business," lovingly performed by Robert Lund. Lyrics and FuMP download link here:

Like I said before, I'm still in complete agreement.

You don't have to be present in the studio to be an artist or to have valuable input on a song.

Many people have taken part in the creation of songs listed in the archive that were not actually behind the mic..... lyricists, composers, producers, arrangers..... the list goes on.

If, for example, you were to want to find all the songs that Gary S Paxton produced, would you know where to look? He's not even listed here as an artist (although he was vocalist in the Hollywood Argyles). Most of us know of his connection with Alley Oop and The Monster Mash, but how do we find other work he's done?

And what about Spaff? We all know of his hard work for Robert Lund.... but who else recorded his work?

I believe not only in giving credit where credit is due, but also in making the database here as complete and accurate as we can make it.

Thanks DJ Particle for stirring the pot once again.

Here's how I look at it: Robert Lund is a performer. I am a lyricist. Lyricists typically do not get credited alongside performers, so y'all can list the performer as simply Robert Lund. Same as when Project Sisyphus performs something I wrote: The performer is Project Sisyphus (not Project Sisyphus and Spaff). Or Carl Hatmaker (not Carl Hatmaker and Spaff). But, hey, I like getting my ego stroked as much as the next guy, so if any of y'all wanna credit me as the lyricist when playing something I wrote, I certainly will not object.
-------

Well, I try to look at precedent.

For example, "Sex Kittens From Mars" and "Holding Out For Hiro" are primarily credited to Luke Ski, despite the primary vocalists being other people.

Also, the credits for "The Tiger Eats Tonight" are usually listed as both Spookster and Art Paul, even though Art Paul doesn't do any singing in that track.

And then there is the fact that Robert Lund would not be the celebrity he is today without you alongside him :)

So it's only fair that you get the partial artist credit :)

If I only ever get you to listen to *one* Robert Lund song, make it "Shakespearean Pie."

It's kinda a lyrical mashup of Hamlet with the song "American Pie." I've been trying to get Robert to record it for years - literally - and the man finally came through for me. (In a big way.)

My friend Below Average Dave has graciously made the recording available on his site for the past couple of weeks, the lovely and talented Dr. Demento played it on his Feb 3 show, and starting today it's downloadable from the FuMP. Links, lyrics, etc., are here:

Same as when Project Sisyphus performs something I wrote: The performer is Project Sisyphus (not Project Sisyphus and Spaff). Or Carl Hatmaker (not Carl Hatmaker and Spaff). But, hey, I like getting my ego stroked as much as the next guy, so if any of y'all wanna credit me as the lyricist when playing something I wrote, I certainly will not object.

Also, Robert doesn't maintain much of an online presence, so I've taken it upon myself to get on the internets and pimp his performances (and, therefore, my lyrics). I'm in charge of the Robert Lund profile on the FuMP, for example. I also have a MySpace page to plug my lyrics and his recordings; I credit that page to both of us: "Spaff.com & Robert Lund." Here it is - come be our friends:
www.myspace.com/spaffcom

I agree with DJ Particle. I have thought for some time that Spaff is deserves more recognition. Perhaps we should start here. Perhaps Wayne should create a new category in the user levels that properly recognizes artists (like Spaff) who do not work behind the mic.

It's not the same Lund...

That Lund is based in Denmark.

Guess I have a new reason to credit our Lund's music as "Robert Lund & Spaff.com". I wonder why so many others don't credit Spaff much :( The MMA lists the songs as just "Robert Lund", the DMDB lists them as just "Robert Lund"..

Where's the love for M. Spaff Sumison???

I tried to look for Robert Lund on Myspace this morning and found this weird music at www.myspace.com/robertlundmusic

That's not the same Robert Lund it is ?

If it isn't my question is: Is there a Robert Lund myspace yet ?

Maybe I've already friended you and don't really know it ?

I have over 1600 friends and alot of them are not my friend.

I would delete them but I'm so overwelmed I don't know where to start.

Well anyways I was just curious ?

Robert Lund's newest song is "With Blinds Wide Open," a parody of Creed's "With Arms Wide Open" about your nekkid mom. (You remember Creed, right? You're anxiously awaiting Scott Stapp's 2008 solo album, RIGHT?)

"With Blinds Wide Open" is currently available for free download from the Funny Music Project (aka The FuMP). So go get it:
www.spaff.com/poesy/with_blinds.html

And say hi to your mom for me.

Hey, Tim.

Thanks for noticing and pointing that out. "99 Words for Boobs" seems to be making the rounds of morning shows this month - it's also shown up on Star 94.1 in San Diego, 97X in Iowa City, WPLR in Hartford, and Y98 in St. Louis. I'm not sure what sparked the sudden interest, but I find it quite nifty.

OK, it's official: Robert Lund is now a member of the FuMP. (He's an "auxiliary member," not a "core member," which means that he gets to eat the good part of the apple while the other guys are stuck with the core. Or something like that.)

Our first contribution to FuMPiness is "99 Words for Boobs." Lyrics, FuMP download link, and a pic of a nice pair of boobies are all here:

Thanx, Terri.

Mitt Romney ran the Salt Lake Olympics, was recently governor of Massachusetts, and is currently a dark-horse candidate (though he's becoming less and less dark every day) for the next Republican presidential nomination.

I know. Yawn. The IMPORTANT thing (at least for the purposes of this song) is that he's a Mormon.

Hey all. I wish I had found this forum sooner. I'm kinda slow that way.

My name is Spaff and I'm a parody lyricist. (Not quitting the day job.) A number of musicians have recorded my song parodies (and you're welcome to too); the guy you're most likely to have heard of is Robert Lund. So, just to warn you, I'll probably annoy you by incessantly pimping Robert's stuff.
