Stavro: I am writing to thank you again for the information, which proved very useful, about the song "Rosie Don't Bang On The Piano". I couldn't find the flip side of the record, "Favorite Indoor Sport," on your site. I finally found it on youtube--though the quality of the audio was inferior to that of "Rosie" on Mad Music.

I am very happy to have been introduced to the riches of The Mad Music Archive as a result of my search for these obscure but great recordings. I plan to revisit it frequently.

With much appreciation and very best wishes,

Charlie

You must have hit the song link and then the sample instead of 'play' on the playlist page which would have played the whole segment, then you could have moved the cursor on your player to the point you wanted. The whole song is there. All this is explained in the Help Page.

Stavro, thanks for your patience, I should have looked more closely at your original instructions. I went back, played the whole streaming segment of the show which was very enjoyable, and heard "Rosie" in its entirety. Needless to say I'm a newcomer to the site, and in fact this is my first time to participate in any kind of dialogue on any Internet site.

Unless I have misunderstood, "Rosie" is not yet available in your store. Will it become available soon? What about the flip side of the 78, "Favorite Indoor Sport"? As I mentioned in my original posting, I would like to buy both these numbers. What are the prospects of their becoming available for sale? With appreciation for your attention to this matter,

We should probably talk about this elsewhere, but if new members have a hard enough time going from song page to listening to a show with that song, how are going to get them to navagate to them on the new song pages?

Stavro: Thank you very much for the information you kindly provided about this tune. I clicked on the link you gave, then on "Rosie Don't Bang on the Piano" which appeared on the link near the end of the list of tunes featured on the 2007 madmusicarchive program, but I was able to hear only the first verse and the beginning of the chorus.

I was surprised to learn that this was a 78 rpm recording made in 1949. I figured it was a 45, since that was the current recording technology for jukebox singles in 1960. I guess in the small-town bar in the Adirondacks where I heard the record in that year, their jukebox still used 78s, and that's why this record was to be found there.

The format wouldn't matter. If I could obtain the original 78 of these two songs ("Favorite Indoor Sport" and "Please Don't Bang"), or if, as you say, that is a bit of a task, a CD, or MP3, that would be great. Please advise me as to how to proceed.

Your kind interest and help in this matter are much appreciated.

Charlie

Everywhere I looked, I found it listed as-
Favorite Indoor Sport/Rosie Don't Bang on the Piano (78rpm KEM 130).

Finding the actual 78 single from 1949 may be a bit of a task.

If you wish to hear it, it was last played on MMS-70: www.themadmusicarchive.com/playlist.aspx?Show=MMS-70

and is in the 1st segment of the show.

Can anybody help me find out how to get the original record of "Please Don't Bang on the Piano"? In 1960, when I was eighteen years old and working as a counselor at a children's camp near Lake Placid, New York, some other counselors and I used to hang out after work at a bar called the Elm Tree Inn, in the nearby town of Keene Valley, where they had "Please Don't Bang" on the juke box. We loved it, and put in many nickles to play it repeatedly on our visits there. The flip side, as I recall, was "It's A Wonderful Indoor Sport". I don't know who the singer or group was, or whether the Cliff Ferre version represented here goes back that far. It is certainly reminiscent of the recording I remember. We are planning a fifty-year reunion, and as a musician I have been assigned to find the record so we can play it on that occasion. Any help in locating it would be greatly appreciated. With many thanks,
