fiogf49gjkf0d I just finished reading through the unread posts I haven't had a chance to catch up on. Seems I was a bit preoccupied the past couple of days.
This past week, my father has been in the hospital with pneumonia. It seems that lungs that have supported a full time smoking habit for 64 of his 77 years have a difficult time with pneumonia. It looked at first like he was making a recovery, but I received a call late in the night on Thursday that he was getting worse. So we packed up the car and headed north to the town of Markdale. (4 hours away.) The rest of my family had already arrived, and things we not looking good. My father stopped responding to conversations within minutes of my arrival.
As midnight approached, we reluctantly decided to work shifts at his bedside and I was left with my wife and mother for the first shift. At about 2:45 on Saturday morning, I noticed his breathing had become very shallow. We alerted hospital staff and I called my brother and sisters, who were just minutes away from leaving home to take their shift. Within a minute or so, he was gone.
His funeral is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. I've been asked to say a few words on behalf of the immediate family.
I hope you'll excuse me if I'm not around much for the next few days. Seems that life has other plans. And I would ask that those of you who are so incline would remember us in your prayers.

fiogf49gjkf0d Sorry- I get to blogs irregularly, so I didn't see this until today. . .I'm so sorry for your loss, I'm sure you've heard it all--but I hope the healing process is Light Speed for you, and I hope that your holidays help the process. . .Have a good Christmas and Happy New Year Bob. . .
Bob Guest: --- I appreciate the support I've received here and in private emails.
Funeral was yesterday, and I was asked to say a few words on behalf of the family. Probably the most difficult bit of writing I ever had to do.
It's all behind us, so now it's time to get used to the new normal.

fiogf49gjkf0d Same here. I had an nearly identical experience in 1971. Though the way the VA treated my father was beyond barbaric. All you can really do is be thankful that you have others to support you.
peterpuck9: --- My condolences, Bob. I'm sorry to hear about it........Pete
