Well I suggest you might want to play at open mics at first until you get your feet wet.

My first gig was planned by the seat of my pants.

I showed up at a place where I hung out on Friday nights... and was known to the management.... So they come to me & say, "The guy planned for tonight couldn't make it.... We hear you can sing.... Want the stage for tonight?.... How about next week as well?"

As it turned out, the guy who booked the talent quit suddenly, without any acts planned. After about six weeks of taking the stage (and learning how to perform) I offered my services as booking manager. I was immediately accepted.

Following week I attended a concert featuring the band my former drummer was with.... I met some of his friends.... came back to the original club with one of the biggest draws in Toronto booked and confirmed.

Not bad for the first night on the job.

I don't book acts any more.... and I don't perform as much as I used to... or as much as I'd like.... But putting gigs together comes easier with every performance.

Just pull together all your current material... figure out how long it would take to perform them.... and come up with short introductions for the songs...... Or just start from the beginning of your book and work your way through until you run out of time.

So will you let us all hear what you record?
