The Mad Music Hour #193 - January 25, 2016
Topic: Out Of Ground At The Edge Of Town (mixtapes 1983 - 85)
This week - exactly what it says on the tin. More songs from my old dementia mixtape collection. Those who listen to my drivel regularly might remember that this was the theme of the first of a unbroken string of shows I made 3 years ago until I became too ill again to continue.

Next week: MMP-36 - Bounce? We're Bouncing Now? That's What We're Doing?
Show Facts: |
I know what you're thinking - What's the deal with the German pop music?! It was on the mixtape, so it went into the show. I know it's been so long since I've felt up to making a show that you may have forgotten, but I was always in the habit of coming out of nowhere with a seemingly out of place tune and making you say, "What the hell's that?" It's just a small part of the fun of making a show. (Stavro Arrgolus) |
For those playing the home game, the show title is a line from C.W. McCall's "Wolf Creek Pass". (Stavro Arrgolus) |

fiogf49gjkf0d Good show Stavro! A very nice set of songs to listen to.

fiogf49gjkf0d My buzzer isn't working... Do I still have a shot at the deluxe dinette suite?
|
|
fiogf49gjkf0d Only if you know that Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Leicester 3-1.

fiogf49gjkf0d PORK
Great balls of fire?
Blue... No red -----------AAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaa...........
(And not a mention of air speed velocities for unladen swallows)

fiogf49gjkf0d No, the song was "Sing Little Birdie". It doesn't count if the birdie is nailed to the perch or pining for the fjords.
(This is an example of a rare Python fail. The question [from 'World Forum'] was: "Teddy Johnson and Pearl Carr won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1959. What was the name of the song?" The correct answer Chairman Mao should have given was - "They didn't win. They came in second." But that wasn't as funny as a Chinese dictator saying something as silly as "Sing Little Birdie".)

fiogf49gjkf0d Great show! Thanks Stavro!

fiogf49gjkf0d Thanks for a terrific show.

fiogf49gjkf0d Thanks guys. Incredibly, there's another one coming in a few days. The playlist is done, I just need to make the script a bit more snide and Bob's your uncle, new Mad Music Hour.
A foot of snow fell here yesterday, so I'm not going anywhere - might as well make another show. The next show after will likely be the one about losing things. There's a thread & requests for it already.
