Dear Diary,
Back in 1999, when the end of the world was still a fanciful notion, I created something I affectionately referred to as the Skeptics Tarot. I wanted to make from scratch an entire tarot deck, all 72 cards, major and minor arcana that celebrated the weird things people believe, from UFOs to psychic surgery, but I wanted it to be done with such loving care that you actually could use it to do "readings."
I know, weird right. There's got to be maybe 3 people in the world that would even care a little about my oddball idea. But I cared about it. I was passionate about it. A working tarot deck that dines on its own entrails. I cared because I for as long as I can remember have been a sucker. And I've been one because I wanted desperately to believe in everything, The idea of touching the devine or the mysterious infinite. But I've also been one of the biggest doubters and cynics. This Tarot deck is my particular brand of human condition.
I devour the thing I most want to have.
I've posted a few in my pictures, if you want to see them, you'll have to friend request.
By the way they're mostly humerous. Well, not humerous, but not angst-ridden either. I was just thinking that I'm giving the wrong impression with this discussion of my motivations. With the artwork, I was trying to play around with the subject matter, and not take it seriously.
