It's now fixed as you can see on the home page. Wacky Ben and The Kahnman just got their newest shows live.

Okay, that doesn't look good, Captain Wayne please fix this!

Update: Nevermind the Wacky Ben's show is up.

I just had the same problem last night when trying to give my next show an early upload as I usually do. I had it set up to go up at 1am eastern as I usually do (or another time if I don't upload early) and I set up the playlist, click done to save it all, and it just took me straight back to the playlist setup. That's why my show for this week is delayed for now.

Ok, now that's strange. I added my segments one at a time. Added the first, then purposely edited the show for the other 3. I even changed the posting times...just to see if something would go wrong. But nothing did.

Never thought all this trouble could come from making one greyed out box alterable. I'll point him to this thread and we'll see what happens tomorrow.

I tried that but I still got the looping. No error message either.

I think you have to add the time it's supposed to air now. Am I right, Wayne?

I tried to save the playlist for this weekend's show and it keeps throwing me in a loop, going back to the edit page and not saving the playlist.

edit 8:41pm

ISGD for 10/21/2017 is being delayed because of this problem.

I think I know what that is. I'll fix it up in the morning. (it's taking you to the new show, but using the wrong ShowID, so you end up on a empty show page)

After I finish making the playlist for my show, I get some weird generic page with nothing in it.

Yes there is... Done!

Dave AuJus:

Thanks to Wayne & Stavro for working on this.

I noticed that there is a "Next Show" button on the playlist for the most current show. If you click it, you go to a ShowID="0" template for a show that does not exist yet. Any way to hide or remove that button?

He also fixed the 'greyed out box' (or not, as I've just tested & found out) in the show edit pages. I've been told to expect bugs as a result of all these all too necessary fixes, so show makers should look out for them and tell us when/if you find any.

And everyone else look for new bugs outside the show pages as well. Things are about to get weird - and not in a good way.

ArtistID 8788 currently has all the 'various artists' albums/songs. Don't try to alter other things that don't belong in 8788 just yet. I'm told much of that will be sorted out tomorrow using a backup. After that, I'll deal with the rest.

Captain Wayne   Offline  -  Site Owner  -  10-08-17 09:42 AM  -  6 years ago

I finally tracked this one down. It was a bug in the merge songs function where if you merged two songs, and one song did not have a valid ArtistID (i.e. it was zero), it would change all playlist tracks without an ArtistID (i.e. comments, headers, etc.) to the keeper artist name. That had to be a RARE occasion, but obviously it happened at least twice!

Strange. I was in the middle of taking the "Kotono Mitsuishi" out of my playlists myself by editing them out. Let me see if they're still up.

Dave AuJus:

3 cheers for Cap'n Wayne. He has determined what caused the "Kotono Mitsuishi" debacle and has restored the playlists that were affected. He is looking to rewrite some code to keep this from happening again.

I going to make an observation here. "Kotono Mitsuishi" seems to have affected only playlists that had blank text lines in them (like The Funky Butts did the first time this happened). However all playlists with "-" (8788) are still intact. Also some mp3 store items and some album listings now have "Kotono Mitsuishi" assigned to them. So it is a "Funky Butts" type problem but the damage so far is not as bad as it could have been.

Most likely it is the result of a glitch during an Artist merge. Wayne has been notified.

Stavro Arrgolus:

CRAP! I just figured it out...

What's going on with the Kotono Mitsuishi page IS the same as the Funky Butts debacle. In all likelihood, it's
caused by the same thing that's screwing up the members box on the
artist pages. Something there is very wrong but I don't know what it is
(since it's a programming issue) and I can't get Wayne to look at it -
he has his own issues to deal with.

Here's the thing... Maybe
(probably) it's the broken members box function OR (unlikely) it's the
merging of artist pages - in this case, something to do with Kotono Mitsuishi
popping up everywhere being credited with things unrelated to her after an artist page merge done some hours ago.

Since
the merge function is ok (I hope), it's likely the broken members box.
Names will vanish from it if you try to edit them after they're input.
Also, you can't put the ArtistID and the name in at the same time. Nothing will appear on the page if you do. There are other issues with it also...

I may be remembering this incorrectly (I'm typing it out now
so I don't forget again) - but I've a vague recollection of trying to
fix incorrectly input info in the members box on The Funky Butts original page...or it
could have been a different one. Can't remember. I'll look it up when
I'm done with this. I'll forget if I don't type this all out right now. Altering the broken members page may have started all that and what happened today. Or not.

Update: No, it was The Due Brothers page that I fixed, not Funky Butts. This may be an artist merge issue after all. If so, the programming will have to be seen to for that as well as for the artist page members box.

I've no choice. As of this moment, there must be no more artist page merges until this is sorted out. It's a very short list of those who can do this anyway, so there shouldn't be any more trouble than there already is...famous last words.

The program's a bit touchy, so I'm wondering if it'll squeeze between the columns at the top of the homepage, but otherwise, this will make a far superior reminder of the Halloween stream than that pumpkin picture I used last year. Thanks, Dave.
Dave AuJus   Offline  -  Artist & D.J.  -  10-01-17 01:53 PM  -  6 years ago

Maybe you can use this on the home page. OK this one is a little smaller.

---
Stavro Arrgolus:

Either way, remind him to put up the Halloween banner so that I can switch out the 24/7 stream to Halloween music. I'm going to do that anyway, but it'd be nice if people knew there was Halloween music to be heard with just one click.

Stavro Arrgolus   Offline  -  Editor, MP3  -  10-01-17 01:46 PM  -  6 years ago

In order to keep the stream as long as possible before looping, Wayne entered in a few parameters & put together everything even remotely Halloweenish in the archive - including things that had nothing to do with it...which I deleted at his request. The stream is exclusively for this site, so his ASCAP/BMI/SESAC licenses cover it.

Because of what's going on at his end, when I switch the streams out in a few days, it'll be the same stream as last year - which is no bad thing because it's holiday music. People want to hear their favorites and all of them are there. Including anything I add that's either new for this year or just things I get reminded of.

I can call up the whole stream playlist & add anything missing (saving Wayne needless aggravation) or suggestions made that I just overlooked.

Halfshell:

Not trying OT here but dont find it necessary to create a new page just for asking, but what kind of halloween music will be on the 24/7 streaming, older stuff, new stuff, only creative commons, anything?

And it'll continue...unless, for the moment, everyone stops making artist pages that need merging, i.e., being careful - and stops using the artist page member boxes that I've been telling everyone to use until now.

The only solution is to have Wayne fix it. He has things to deal with as I said, but if enough of you send him the message - even if it's just copying & pasting my previous post with the discovered problems, he may just decide to sort it out...or not.

Whats really gonna suck, if more pages gets messed up and all have to go by "-", can you imagine how many times the "-" artists will collect for each screw up? To bad there wasn't a save point before the whole funky butts mess.

You can read all about it here:

www.madmusic.com/song_details.aspx?SongID=59171

Please note this is only a cosmetic fix, Captain Wayne will still have to fix the programming part.

If you played one of The Funky Butts songs on your show, please ignore the "-" as the artist name. (Please do not try and change the name on their song or artist page).

If any of you are still cleaning up your playlists, you can remove the "-" from any text line without worry.
