* In 1969, the National League was divided into two baseball divisions -- wacky as it
* turned out to be. For example, the Atlanta Braves were placed in the West Division, while
* the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs were Eastern Division teams. Cincinnati was
* also placed in the National League West. The Chicago Cubs sued to stay out of the west
* and remain in the east in the 1990s, when three divisions were formed. They ended up in
* the new Central division.

* In 1989, the magnificent voice of Bugs, Daffy, Elmer Fudd (after Arthur Q. Bryan passed

* July 12
* In 1969, R.C., "In The Year 2525 (Exordium & Terminus)" by Zager & Evans peaked at #1 on
* the pop singles chart and stayed there for six weeks. And no, it's not true that "Weird
* Al" Yankovic recorded a parody of it titled "In the Year 2727"!

* In 1979, "Disco Demolition Night" was staged by disk jockey Steve Dahl at Chicago's
* Comiskey Park between games of a baseball doubleheader, where a big pile of unwanted
* vinyl disco records got burned up. Led by the chant, "Disco Sucks!", most of the records
* weren't burned, but sailed through the stands DURING the game -- nearly inciting a riot.
* Some fans went wild and started their own fires and mini-riots. There was so much
* commotion that the ballplayers couldn't even finish the last game of the doubleheader;
