* July 9 * In 1966, R.C., "Everybody Loves A Nut" by Johnny Cash peaked at #96 on the pop * singles chart.
* In 2004, the movie "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" opened in theaters in the USA.
* July 10 * In 1969, the National League was divided into two baseball divisions -- wacky as it * turned out to be. For example, the Atlanta Braves were placed in the West Division, while * the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs were Eastern Division teams. Cincinnati was * also placed in the National League West. The Chicago Cubs sued to stay out of the west * and remain in the east in the 1990s, when three divisions were formed. They ended up in * the new Central division.

* July 12 * In 1969, R.C., "In The Year 2525 (Exordium & Terminus)" by Zager & Evans peaked at #1 on * the pop singles chart and stayed there for six weeks. And no, it's not true that "Weird * Al" Yankovic recorded a parody of it titled "In the Year 2727"!
* In 1979, "Disco Demolition Night" was staged by disk jockey Steve Dahl at Chicago's * Comiskey Park between games of a baseball doubleheader, where a big pile of unwanted * vinyl disco records got burned up. Led by the chant, "Disco Sucks!", most of the records * weren't burned, but sailed through the stands DURING the game -- nearly inciting a riot. * Some fans went wild and started their own fires and mini-riots. There was so much * commotion that the ballplayers couldn't even finish the last game of the doubleheader; * the White Sox forfeited the second game of a doubleheader to the Detroit Tigers. The next * day, newspapers and one of the sponsoring DJ's, Steve Dahl, called the unruly crowd, "a * bunch of animals."
