It's very definitely 'naughty'. The gag is that God would ever say that word and that it would be in Ye Olde Bible with all the "He who brought the butter dish to Belshazzar" and all that. Python and Michael Palin in particular was fond of screwing with the scriptures in this particular way. He does it again on the Contractual Obligation album www.madmusic.com/song_details.aspx?SongID=27692 and also in the Meaning of Life movie.

The "reading fake scripture" concept works so well that Rowan Atkinson got some mileage out of it with his "The Amazing Jesus" www.madmusic.com/song_details.aspx?SongID=35310 bit that always went down so well at the Secret Policemen's Ball concerts for Amnesty International a couple of decades ago.

Dave AuJus:

And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once at the number three, being the third number to be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it."

Next week, we blow up that vicious, furry little killer with a sacramental grenade. After pulling the pin and counting to five.

Oh, right...three.

Hope there's no cartoon monsters in the cave behind the rabbit. I hear cartoonists who draw cave monsters tend to have heart problems.

Seg. 9 & 10 are posted - www.madmusic.com/playlist.aspx?show=MMS-182

It's done. Time for the Easter show. It's just an hour, so it won't take until Halloween to make it.

Actually, it was more of a rhetorical question/snarky way of saying "I had too many medical appointments to deal with this week, so I'm recording these segments this weekend and have no choice but to post them some time on Sunday." Next week, we blow up that vicious, furry little killer with a sacramental grenade. After pulling the pin and counting to five.

I wouldn't think so speaking from both a Christian and comedic point of view.

Stavro Arrgolus:

Is it sacrilegious to post segments of Xmas show on Palm Sunday? It seems that's how it may end up working out. Perhaps the Wise Men can bring the baby Jesus colored eggs & jellybeans. It sure beats the hell out of a 'reddish brown bitter gum resin'. What's a baby going to do with a gum resin?

I know. This one won't die, will it?

It will when I finish the last two segments. There are only 2 left and I'm knocking them out before I do anything else, pigheadedly insisting on finishing what I start.

I've been out of sorts for a while, so now's as good a time as any, but I don't want to be be celebrating Xmas at Easter, so I'd better get a move on and try to get them in some time late this week.

Easter show: Blasphemous. Irreverent. Probably with a high rabbit body count. Therefore, not to be missed. Hope I'm actually conscious when the time comes so I can make it.

Seg 8 - same place as all the others - www.madmusic.com/playlist.aspx?show=MMS-182

Segment 8 arrives today - very very slowly. It hasn't arrived sooner because I had a bad case of 'can't brain today' ...on both Friday & Saturday. If you had perforated & bulging spinal discs, you'd have difficulty concentrating on very late Xmas shows as well.

Seg. 8 is called 'Insanity for Xmas', the segment concept that gives the whole show its name. And yes, I know I've used it before.

Right! Time's up.

Now that I have two completed shows on the homepage show column for you to chew on, I've bought myself some time to finally complete this Xmas special. I'm a tenacious old bastard and I don't like leaving things incomplete - unless time constraints make things impossible to do entirely, like MMS-157. No, I haven't forgotten about that, either.

Having completed the first part of the plan (everything's got to have a plan - talk about anal...), I can take the rest of the week to record the completed 4 segments that remain in the special. That is, if I survive this week's hospital trip to the damn city - no guarantee in this weather.

This is actually quite a decent show that doesn't blow goats at all. There's still more than a foot of snow on the ground here as there is in many places, so when it's done, many of you would have no trouble suspending reality for a bit, imagining it's Xmas and listening to the very first Mad Music Special.

As mentioned before, the time I have left will determine whether the St. Patrick's Day show I make afterward will be a podcast, MMH or full MMS. MMP-30 will follow, no matter which is made - or it'll be made first if there turns out to be too much time.

Segments 4-6 are posted www.madmusic.com/playlist.aspx?Show=MMS-182 , completing the full 2-hour Mad Music Show, so if you've a mind to do the Time Warp and all you see is snow outside the way I do, it won't be much of a stretch of the imagination to picture Xmas in your head as you listen to new segments of MMS-182.

Snowstorm today. Not going anywhere. Knowing this in advance, I set aside today to record as much of this unfinished Xmas show as possible, crappy health permitting. I actually feel a little better, so now's the time to have a go at it.

Pig-headedness time.

Yes, I know it's way out of season now, but this show was completed and I'm going to finish recording at least a full Mad Music Show out of it before I do any other show since Dave's guest-hosted show this weekend is buying me some time to.

Right after I do a mess of household tasks today starting with installing the 16 ton replacement battery I bought yesterday (after getting stranded again) into my 3 ton car and then finally buying some food.

...But it's only 6:30 and I'm going to need some light first. If I could afford a garage, I could afford a less drafty house and a less hostile climate to put it in.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, guys. It would seem that 68 isn't the new 48 after all and no amount of planning can surmount what one in my condition just can't manage in what to others would have seemed a generous schedule.

It also seems I lost 15 more pounds than I was supposed to while this was going on. Whoops.

So here's the plan. After a indeterminate amount of extra rest and a bit of (planned) weight gain, The Mad Music Podcast will resume (I'll bet some of you thought I was giving it up entirely) after I've knocked out the remainder of this episode. It's a decent show. I put in the effort to assemble it and script it; I'm not giving up on it.

After hearing Dave's longer 'cast (MMP-24), I think the podcast can be 45 minutes+. It needs some type of feature as well. Something an infirm old fart can make without any further injury. The show just lies there with only songs.

Don't expect too much yet. It's just a Mad Music Hour to be built on later. How much later? There are 12 days of Xmas as I keep saying...

My doctor has given me a 'rest/food/no exertion' directive. It's just as well as I'm a bit disoriented right now. This show will be recorded and posted whenever as a Mad Music Hour first - then it will grow into an MMS as segments are added and finally into a Special. All when I get a bit better and remember to stick to podcasts and/or hour long shows from now on.

It seems I pushed too hard again. The new playlist & script are complete but I'm now no longer in any condition to make the show. I'm feeling dizzy and seeing green light when I stand up, so after having a much needed sizable meal, I'm going back to bed and staying there for a day or 2. I can still look in on the site from there, but that's it.

Since the show is complete, I can record it and post a segment whenever I feel up to it, so it'll be posted piecemeal until it's done.

I'll try to get the equivalent of a Mad Music Hour out before Xmas. After the holiday, no announcements will be made of additions to the show. They'll just appear. Xmas is technically until the night of Jan 5th, after all.

When it's done, podcasts will resume.

Um, that was one of the last songs played in show 2. Have a listen. www.madmusic.com/playlist.aspx?show=MMS-181 It doesn't suck. My memory is crap, so I have all this year's Xmas shows on a single spreadsheet so I won't play them more than once. Someone remind me if I do.

My concern is that since the segment was originally from show 3 (so it's done and I've no time now to change it), I wasn't going all out for a finisher and it may not be as disturbing as segment 9 is offensive.

Those are just rude. I'm shooting for full on offensive. Xmas bothers people for some reason and this seems to have started only recently. As an old guy, I find this hilarious. Those songs will be about that.

Ok, I'm back. I have medical approval to continue (sheesh!) and I'm going to make a valiant attempt at a Mad Music Special with the combined 10 segment themes as seen below. 3½ - 4 hrs in total.

Can I manage 10? Unlikely. That's just the plan. What actually gets made by Xmas will be posted.

Here are the mini-themes (subject to possible minor change):

Seg. 1: Christmas is Coming, Dammit! (a little too much enthusiasm about the holiday)

Seg. 2: Plz Can Kitteh Hav Moar Klassics?

Seg. 3: A Very Disturbing Christmas (unsettling Xmas tunes)

Seg. 4: Whimsy & Classics & Madness, Oh My! (rather than just classics, I'm bringing back the 'whimsical' Xmas song segment from a couple of years ago)

Seg. 5: Send It Back! (dissatisfaction with what Santa brought - or didn't)

Seg. 6: Santa's Stuffing Your Pie Hole (food-related Xmas songs)

Seg. 7: The Degradation of Mr. Claus (bad things happening to Santa - other than just getting stuck in chimneys)

Seg. 8: Insanity For Christmas (either literal or figurative)

Seg. 9: Don't Be Offensive, You Bastard! (PC Xmas songs - or anti-PC songs or...oh, let's face it, this one's going to get very offensive fast)

Seg. 10: After Xmas Syndrome (semi-traditional ending segment to Xmas shows about the end of Xmas)

Ok, here's how this will have to work. Show 3's script & playlist were complete and show 4 was nearly finished, but not quite. The best bits of show 4 will be mashed into the completed show to make the first Mad Music Special. It will be 3+ hours. Meaning between 3 and 4. And...with medical approval, work on it can resume. Or not.

Not tonight, of course. Still getting in that overdue rest, those even more overdue household tasks and enjoying the holiday as much as anyone in my situation possibly can.
