The good Doctor has played this song twice in the last 50 years. Not one DJ here has played it on any show (13 years). So maybe it's not that demented after all. So do we really need more songs like this one? Probably not.

Dr D would play bout anything if he knew the story behind it

And he'd tell the story first to justify playing it. If there's a story behind what's good about a song or the cover of one, add that to the page.

A mainstream band making a comedy/novelty song that they usually wouldn't make can count - cover or not.  Styx made "Plexiglas Toilet", Van Halen made "Happy Trails". That sort of thing.

But you have to use your judgment. Is it novelty or are you just adding it because it's there? Listen to it first and know that they made it for the sheer hell of it. Those are the best kind of these types of songs.

When in doubt, think, "Would Dr. Demento play this?" If not, leave it out.

So that means pearl jam's cover fits here too?

Eh, sure why not. I mean Pearl Jam also had a comedic song about bugs.

Dr. Demento thought so or he wouldn't have played it. It could possibly fit in a Halloween show.
