fiogf49gjkf0d Music lovers in the Toronto (Ontario) area received the sad news this week that Sam The Record Man is closing its doors for good at the end of June.
Sam's flagship store on Young Street in Toronto has long been the mecca for music lovers looking for that one disk they cannot find anywhere else. Instead of sending all the unsold merchandise back to distributors, Sam often kept a few copies available in a special section on the top floor of his store. I have often browsed through that section and found first editions of great old rock classics.
However, the advance of music megastores and music downloads has proved too much for the once great retail music retailer.
Sam The Record Man was truely one of the greatest record retailers and will be missed by music fans across the Toronto area. The removal of the big neon "spinning disc" sign over the store will leave an empty hole on Young Street.
