Live 365 is closing down January 31 due to the high cost of streaming copyrighted music and lack of investors. Longtime site visitors might know that the stream used to power the now defunct DFSX Radio/iFunny Radio/Dave's Fun Stuff Radio from 2000 until 2012. This was where shows such as "I Still Get Demented" got started as a regular series in 2003 and runs today on mad music dot com.

Right now I'm not overly concerned. I have a little cash to spend... it is a hobby after all. I will also likely increase advertising on the site (more than just the 2 ads on each page... for some pages). Google is pretty much paying for the site now... I'd like to get them to pay for the SoundExchange greed as well. Let them trade money and leave me out of it {grin}.

Well, if the streams go I understand. I'll just produce my own podcast shows once a month and retire the I Still Get Demented show temporarily until a streaming partner with funds raised to pay for it can make it possible again. I'll have to stop playing everybody else's songs except my own recordings for my podcasts.

What if someone can produce some 30 or 60 second ads for us to play on our shows and make them available for download for all shows to use.

Wish I can help with the extra $100 a month, but my hours at my job just won't go higher than 29.99 a week. I just need to sell 400 mp3 downloads of my stuff a month here to help you pay to keep the site streaming.

Yeah, the new pricing scheme from SoundExchange sucks. It used to be based on a percentage of income. Now they want $0.0017 per song play, no matter how much the site earns.

For MadMusic.com, we used to about break even on the old plan. With the new plan it might cost me $100 a month in additional fees.
