January 10 - 2:45 am EST

I t's been one of those interesting seasons. These are the kind that kill you if you're not careful. An explanation of everything that occurred follows. Right after some much needed bedrest.

I'm going to bed now since I woke up yesterday afternoon & will finish this post when I get up. I just wanted to get it started. Happy New Year, all. (10 am, 1/9)

There, that's done. So here's how it went. I must be the only guy to lose 15 pounds during the holidays instead of gain. My endocrinologist isn't happy. Hospital visits await now, but during the month, I was told to stop what I was doing (after completing 2 Xmas shows) and rest.

Rest?! From what? Sitting in a big cat-clawed leather chair in front of a computer all day and not shoveling snow? Ooh, tiring! But they insisted. Of course, I insisted on getting in at least a Mad Music Hour for the last Xmas show. I can finish making the rest of the intended special segment by segment whenever and you can listen to it whenever. That's all part of the magic of 'teh internets'.

Although I made a big fuss, no holiday mass e-mail was made & sent, so few members returned to the site during the holidays. Since we gained few active members then, few will be lost this month when the 30 day inactive period expires. Still, there were lots of good Xmas shows made and the Xmas stream was up and sounded fine, so it all went well otherwise.

This year, The Mad Music Podcast is back on iTunes & I will be making new 'casts on a regular basis as it's a low impact activity and only a half hour after all. No tiring 3 hour extravaganzas are planned and Mad Music Hours will be made occasionally also. As before, the shows will be posted by Monday or Tuesday if not a bit sooner. There's no set day for their posting.

This month, the show concepts that were already laid out on the spreadsheet 2 years ago will get made. Next month, new stuff from the idea list and who knows - maybe Wayne will return and make a podcast himself once in a while. He's told me he's got some free time again and wants in on the podcast, so it might happen. Maybe, possibly.

November 19 - 1 pm EST

F irst things first. "Where is this week's show?" you ask.

Our intentions were good. We wanted to surprise the hell out of everyone by bringing back Cap'n Wayne to the podcast. He wanted to make the 11/17 show with all the movie news and sci-fi features we had in the original podcast. But the difficulties of the past that caused the shows to stop in the first place returned and circumstance made it impossible for him to make the show.

As you may know by now, I'm in the middle of making the Xmas shows and am fixated on getting 4 full shows completed. What's easy for many show makers isn't so easy for me. Focus on anything is difficult, I have to write everything down so I remember it for more than a few seconds and...I just forgot the third thing - perfect example of this sort of thing going on.

The point is, I can't stop to make a podcast now. I have to finish Xmas show one so it'll be on time. Dave AuJus will have a guest hosted Thanksgiving show for you in a few days, so there will be holiday shows before too long.

Since Thanksgiving and Hanukkah are on the same day this year (WTF?!), the first Xmas show must contain the Hanukkah songs. I'll make a bit of a fuss about it, play all the good stuff and that'll be that. Hanukkah Harry will get his ass booted from the Thanksgiving table and back out to his donkey cart (which we all know he has from that old SNL sketch) so he can deliver toys to all the good Jewish girls and boys and with any luck, a good time will be had by all.

It's become a bit of a tradition in my Xmas shows to begin with a segment of nasty/sacrilegious/perverted songs about Santa, so the way this show starts should be no surprise. Once I get all that juvenile crap out of my system, we'll have some Hanukkah songs - but not all at once. I'll spread the segments around a bit and we'll have other things like - all the requests I couldn't get in last year.

Last year's shows were put together; I just wasn't in any condition to record them. Things are different now, but I'm not letting last year's plans go to waste. The non-topical playlists - along with as many requests from then as I can work in will get incorporated into this year's shows.

Like Halloween, Xmas is in the middle of the week this year, so the shows will likely turn up on Mondays or Tuesdays as the Halloween shows did. Who knows? Maybe the last show can be programmed in for a Xmas release. Unlike Halloween, Xmas goes on for a while after the day. There are 12 days of Xmas after all. There's Xmas, then we have Wrestling Day, uh, Boxing Day....

Yep! :-)

Stavro Arrgolus:

I stocked up on groceries before the storms and waited for the snow to melt so I wouldn't have to go out or have to shovel. One can only get away with that ('that' = being a lazy bastard) for so long in this climate.

I haven't had to buy an Xmas present in decades. That part never changes. Dead people aren't all that demanding during the holidays. Visit a grave; dust an urn or 5, they're happy (one can only assume).

I hope your wrist is better and you have people to help. I'd be screwed if I broke anything, so I try to be careful. That's always a good resolution. Lots of medical horrors want to kill me, so why be reckless & help them? Take it easy. Avoid slick ice.

Three weeks ago, I fell on ice and broke my wrist. Needless to say, the holidays weren't all they could be, but they were ok. And I got out of shoveling snow and Christmas shopping!
