Topic: Halloween instrumentals help

fiogf49gjkf0d I know it is way too early to work on my upcoming Halloween shows since we're at the last days of August and September is coming up, but there is one thing I wish to do and that is find some instrumental songs that are associated with Halloween that I can use as background music. I am familiar with famous orchestral songs such as "Night On Bald Mountain," "In The Hall Of The Mountain King," and the famous organ piece "Toccata Fugue In D Minor." If anyone else knows any other instrumentals that associate with Halloween then please feel free to let me know and I will look them up. Thanks and take care.

First off, does anyone know what I can call these bad Halloween songs?

fiogf49gjkf0d Off the top of my head - Any song Elvira sings herself. Cassandra Peterson was hot, but not every hot girl can sing. Examples of this can be found...well, on this site. The rest is subjective. Is "Ballad of the Terlet - Rube Ruben" good or bad? It's on one of my old Halloween mix tapes... Does 'bad' include some of the tackier efforts made by Disney? The more corporate you are, the less ability you have to get things like 'holiday sentiment' correct.

Aside from instrumentals, I have an idea for a musical turkeys portion of my Halloween show where I will have a half hour set of bad Halloween songs. First off, does anyone know what I can call these bad Halloween songs? Second, aside from The Shaggs' "It's Halloween," does anyone know any other bad Halloween songs?

fiogf49gjkf0d I believe the theme from the Exorcist (Tubular Bells) is all instrumental.

fiogf49gjkf0d Theme from "Dark Shadows", very creepy.

fiogf49gjkf0d So far so good and that's a lot of instrumentals so we'll see how much I'll be able to fit especially during my host segments. Now I know this is no help but there is one instrumental that seems to be played mostly on the cello and it seems to be really old. I heard it in two promos on The Disney Channel around 1990 and 1994 (in fact there's a promo still up for Disney's Toonin' Tuesday Halloween line-up so listen closely).

fiogf49gjkf0d Also John Carpenter's "Halloween" OST

fiogf49gjkf0d While not traditionally associated with Halloween, "The Return Of The Son Of Monster Magnet" by The Mothers Of Invention has some appropriately spooky and creepy passages over the course of its 12+ minutes.

fiogf49gjkf0d Los Straitjackets did a nice version of the "Munsters Theme" and don't forget Vic Mizzy's "Addam's Family" instrumental. "Frankenstein" by Edgar Winter was big also.
