-=Confluence July 27-29th, 2012 in Pittsburgh PA=-

Insane Ian will be in Pittsburgh the weekend of July 27-29 for Confluence. My concert is Saturday afternoon the 28th at 1pm. My pal Devo Spice will be there as well, performing Friday night at 10pm. There will also be performances by Guest of Honor and Featured Filker Seanan McGuire as well as Special Filk Guest (and my mother) Martha Sayre, whose performance I will be featured in as well, and probably a bunch of other people too.

-="Songs for Superheroes" & "Grand Theft Audio"=-

So, we're taking pre-orders for this year's II EP and Full-length release...and yet, there's a bit of a problem. "SfSH" was supposed to be released last month, but as we were finishing it up, our producer's computer (with the master recordings of the tracks on the EP) sadly crashed, and everything is out of commission for the time being. What does this mean? Well, other than the obvious delay, we may have to release the EP without a few of the tracks if things aren't resolved soon. For those few of you who reserved the EP, I leave this decision to you. If you want the EP now, or if you don't mind the delay, you can reply to this message or on my Facebook page (facebook.com/insaneianmusic) or twitter (twitter.com/insaneianb) and let me know. If we end up delaying it a bit, there's a good chance we'll actually be able to ADD tracks to it, other than the few that I don't currently have the masters for. All the current details of "SfSH" can be found at insaneian.bandcamp.com

As for GTA, we're still taking pre-orders on that as well, but this is actually (finally) moving along. After more than a year in production, the audio portion is done, and all pre-orders will be getting a digital download of the audio RIGHT NOW until release. When is the release? The physical copies should be done by the end of Septemeber (this year) if it kills me. All pre-orders have rec'd their digital copies of the audio, and all pre-orders from this point on will get the 22 track digital album now, with the physical copy order, available from www.insaneian.com/buy_stuff

-=Request "When the World Ends" on Dr. Demento's Top Ten!=-

Last month, "When The World Ends" hit Dr. Demento's Top Ten countdown for the third time! Thanks to all who requested it! If you want to ensure it makes it to the Funny 25 countdown for the end of the year, please, send a request here: drdemento.com/request Please include your email address when requesting, so they know it's coming from a real person (there was a ballot box stuffing incident which now requires all requests for the Top Ten to have an email). Thanks!

-=Insane Ian on Nerdapalooza 2011 Compilation!=-

This album is 37 tracks recorded live at Nerdapalooza 2011, and features Insane Ian performing "MvL" with Devo Spice and Luke Ski, as well as a guest appearance on "Snoopy the Dogg" by the great Luke Ski, along with tracks by the Consortium Of Genius, brentalfloss, Captain Dan & His Scurvey Crew, Marc With A C, Sci-Fried, Adam WarRock, Schaffer The Darklord, Dual Core, Koo Koo Kanga Roo, and many more! Only $7 for the MP3 version, or $15 for a CD. Get it at: nerdapaloozafest.bandcamp.com

-=Scooter Picnic full length release available NOW!=-

Scooter Picnic is Insane Ian & TV's Kyle's hip hop flavored side project. While it could be called Nerdcore, we feel it bends the genre a bit, and could be described as Bloopcore Quirkhop...or, you know, whatever. You can get their new full length release, "Headliners" NOW, as well as their Free EP (entitled, "FreEP") pver at their bandcamp page (scooterpicnic.bandcamp.com). And Hey! Like them on Facebook! www.facebook.com/scooterpicnic

-=Insane Ian on Sci-Fried's upcoming "Co-Op Mode"!=-

Sci-Fried is a geek rock band from Florida who infuse comedy and nerdy exploits with rocking riffs and killer chords. Their upcoming release, "Co-Op Mode" features collaborations with a dozen other artists, including Insane Ian, Madhatter of Scrub Club, MC Lars, Kirby Krackle, Marc with a C, and many more! The album will be available at Nerdapalooza this year in August, and then later on the bands website, sci-friedband.com . Check out their site now for details, and look forward to II's collabo track, "Get Me Out of Retail" soon!

-=FuMP Now Taking Submissions For Main Page Consideration=-

If you are someone who creates comedy music and would like to have your songs posted on the main page of the FuMP dot com, now is your chance. For the details, here are the words written by our webmaster, Devo Spice:

The FuMP is now accepting songs for consideration to use on our site. If you have a funny song you would like us to include on our site and compilation CDs submit it through the Submit A Song button on the right side of the FuMP webpage, www.thefump.com. Upload an MP3 for us to listen to and if it gets voted in your song will be scheduled for posting on the site, you will be paid for your submission, and fame and fortune will be... well they'll still be pretty much out of reach, but at least you'll be paid for your submission.

Here are some guidelines for what we are and are not looking for:

1. The song must be funny, obviously. This is The Funny Music Project.

2. Going along with that it must be music. We do occasionally post sketches, but the focus here is on the music.

3. It must be a high quality production. We want studio quality recordings. You don’t have to actually go into a studio, but it needs to sound like you did. No demos. No recordings of you from your computer’s web cam sitting in front of it playing guitar. No live recordings unless they were recorded by a professional and they sound great and have great audience reactions.

4. We want good performances. If you’re singing make sure you can carry a tune. If you’re rapping make sure you can ride the beat. Put some emotion into your performance. Give us good comic timing. If you can’t sing too well go take some lessons first and submit your song later, or hire someone else to sing it.

5. No legal issues. You must own all the necessary rights to your song. Parodies are fine, but no samples. No unlicensed instrumentals or karaoke tracks for your parodies. You have to make your own backing track or hire someone to make it for you.

6. No cover songs. (Unless you know the original artist personally and he/she’s OK with it.)

7. Not too short. Generally no shorter than 1:30.

8. You must be OK with the FuMP’s standard distribution method. That is, a creative commons license, free downloads while it’s on the home page, your song included on a compilation CD, that CD sent to our subscribers and made available for sale on our web site, iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Rhapsody, and wherever else we can put it. Your song will be on iTunes and we will not make exceptions if you don’t want it up there.

9. The song should be fairly new and/or unreleased. Please avoid posting songs that have previously been released elsewhere. If the song is from a new album of yours that was released in the past month or two that's fine. Alternate versions of previously released songs are fine as well. What we don't want is a song that has already made the rounds on the internet years ago.
