Topic: Should Dick Clark Have Retired?

fiogf49gjkf0d Do you think Dick Clark should have stayed home instead of working on New Years Eve.
I sometimes saw saliva coming out from the top of his mouth and dripping to the bottom of his lip.

fiogf49gjkf0d having the ball drop with no announcer and The B-52s music is better than Mr Egocrest too though
peterpuck9: --- I thought that is was a little sad to see him now, having trouble speaking due to the stroke that he suffered. But I also think it would be sadder not to see him at all on New Year's Eve.
Rock on, Dick Clark! You're still better than Seacrest!

fiogf49gjkf0d I respect that opinion, I guess I just don't see a reason for him to force himself to do it--and that retiring is not taking away from his legacy in his commitment to the art we all love "Music" or the New Years Eve celebration--but I certainly see where your opinion comes from, and can appreciate it.
One line I remember hearing (I'm sure someone on this site can point out where it came from) is "Death doesn't knock, 'til you stop working" and from that perspective--your last line kinda rings out.
Bob Guest: --- For many years, people have seen Dick Clark on new Years Eve and commented that he must be getting old, but doesn't look like he aged a day. Well, the age is finally catching up to him. He has mostly retired from most other pursuits, but New Years Eve is his last remaining night to shine. I don't think we should take that away from him. His fans should understand and be glad that he's doing well, in spite of the fact his age is showing through. If he's still with us in years to come, I'm sure his involvement with the New Years Eve show will be modified... but taking him out of the show will be bad for everyone, including Dick Clark.

fiogf49gjkf0d I really respect the man having done it as long as he has. . .but
He's aging, and as much as I respect him for standing up when he's dealing with so much, I do feel like Bob Barker and The Price is Right, he should finish his career and take care of himself and stop in just to say hi and let us know how he's doing
