The Mad Music Show #190 - December 3, 2014
Topic: Xmas I: The War On Christmas Armistice
This show is Explcicit

This week, the first Christmas show of the season - "The War on Xmas Armistice". In this show, we'll have a few requests, some classics, we give Bob Rivers a big retirement sendoff set to some of his best Xmas tunes - even though he retired in August. I retired in 1989, so timing isn't a factor here. Finally, we find out what happens when you fight the power & resist the Christmas season. It's not going to be pretty.

This show has 4 parts:

Next week: Xmas II: Nobody Shoots At Santa Claus

Show Facts:
Spoilers in the first 20 seconds - now that's the way to start a show. (Stavro Arrgolus)
Segment 4 is very nasty indeed (as advertised). It's NSFW and somewhat blasphemous. Wouldn't have it any other way. (Stavro Arrgolus)

Yes, it's just the first hour, I know. I don't have the oomph to finish tonight.

The other half will be finished when I have the energy - tomorrow or Thursday at the latest. Don't laugh; you're going to be old & decrepit someday as well.

I had NO IDEA that Bob Rivers started his career at WAAF. I grew up and currently live in Palmer, so I know exactly where West Brookfield is... Thanx for the trivia, Stavro!

I was careful about that. I said he became big/famous/marketable in Worcester. He started in Connecticut, but Bob & Zip at WAAF were bigger than anything he did there.

His first Xmas album was recorded around a mile from where I'm sitting. When I bought the thing, I didn't even think there were any studios out here in the sticks. This was 1987 - when you couldn't crank out an album from your computer using a few specialized programs & minimal equipment like you theoretically can now.

Apropos of nothing, although I've lived in Spencer for 43 years, Palmer was one of the places I lived before that.
