Country Singer, Songwriter and Music Producer. Born Royce Glenn Sutton. A native of Hodge, Louisiana, he is best known for writing such notable classic country songs such as, "Almost Persuaded," for David Houston, "I Don't Wanna Play House," for Tammy Wynette, "What Made Milwaukee Famous (Made a Loser Out of Me)," for Jerry Lee Lewis, and "Rose Garden," for Lynn Anderson. The song was Lynn Anderson's biggest hit. Sutton also wrote, "What A Man My Man Is," "She Still Comes Around," "Take Me To Your World," "Your Good Girl's Gonna Go Bad," "The Football Card," "Kiss Away," and "With One Exception." Sutton who was married to country singer Lynn Anderson from 1969 to 1977, was also the recipient of several awards and honors. He was the recipient of 27 BMI Awards, including Producer of the Year, a BMI million airs award for 1 million performances of "Almost Persuaded," and awards from CMA, Billboard Magazine, and a Grammy in the 1960s. In 1977, he appeared as a regular guest on TNN's "Backstage At The Opry" with Porter Wagoner. He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1999. (Adam)
